A Retrospective of Skill Karin and Cammy 2016-2018

I was watching the Punk V Bonchan match from SCR today and it got me wondering how much have I improved from 2016, so I dug thru the archives on my channel and found my first match against my buddy BlueEyedDemon and his Cammy and my most recent match against him.
THEN 4/10/16

NOW 9/23/18

Did you spot the Zenny symbol in the first video! lmao!
And how about that Roster size? So many snowflakes complaining about the roster size at launch! There is a benefit to a smaller roster size in the beginning, it'll take less time to find the character that works best for you.
And look at all those wonderful stages!

Street Fighter V Season 2 Second DLC Character Reveal Trailer: Kolin

Capcom just released the Season 2 Second DLC Character Reveal Trailer for.....Kolin.
I like the Lupe Fiasco song they have with the trailer, someone needs to remix Kolin's trailer with Vanilla Ice's song....yeah he only had one.
Anyway it seems as if Kolin has lost her baby face from the season 1 cinematic story, but thankfully they didn't ruin her face, in fact the more mature face is more suited for her.
So Kolin's martial arts style is systema with the element of ice. I hope Kolin get her own stage like what her trailer opens with.I'm not sure if this is a case of good video editing or not but at mark 1:03 it looks like Kolin might have a variant of Cammy's Ultra II CQC from Street Fighter IV.
Kolin V trigger, "Diamond Dust" is intriguing in that it also freezes the stun gauge and if you do stun the character with it the opponent get frozen in place on the ground!
Kolin will be available February 28th along with her Story/Battle/ Nostalgia costumes.
I guess the Underground Arena will be Kolin's official Stage so does that male Ring of Destiny Geif and Mika's stage?

I don't play fighting games anymore because I don't have the reflexes anymore.....

Ok so back when SFIV was new and vanillay I wanted my most good friend Krogenar to get the game and spar with me....we used to lose hours just having Ryu V Ken matches back in the day. But after taking one too many Shoryuken's to the head he hung up his controller, finally after weeks of persistent badgering he told he he stoped playing because
"my reflexes can't keep up with the twitch gameplay nowadays"

WHAAAA ?!?!?!?!?
Well Krogenar meet Cohen the Australian Shepard....he's got some seriously god like paw eye coordination....

EVO 2016 Finals on ESPN Esports is real folks

I've been playing Street Fighter longer than some of the players at EVO have been alive, and seeing this franchise evolve from it's humble inception with the original Street Fighter (yes I played SF in the arcades....Adventures in Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers) in 1987 to becoming a World Wide phenomenon that single handedly ushered in the the Fighting Game Genre in 1991 with Street Fighter II and staved off the death of Arcades in America, to the inception of EVO (B3) in 1996 to the EVO Finals being broadcast on ESPN2 this year! This is very exciting to me since I've been with this franchise since day 1!
I actually got my wife and son to watch the Finals with me and I was worried it would seem amateurish to those who don't know anything about Esports or Fighting Games but I have to congratulate Ryan Gutierrez, Mike Ross and Seth Killian for doing an outstanding job hosting the Finals! And Congrats to Infiltration, Fuudo, Yukadon, GO-1, LI Joe, MOV, Nemo and Eita!

The Highlight for me was LI Joe, even my wife was hyped during these matches!

This one was a nail biter!

Trial and Tribulations with Nelly Olsen aka Karin Kanzuki

When I first got SFV I went straight to my main Chun Li, but I've always been curious about Nelly Olsen oops, Karin Kanzuki, so I started focusing on her and I'll admit her CA finish is such a guilty pleasure. So I stuck with her and have totally abandoned my main since SFII. I've enjoyed sparring with her against my friends in Battle Lounge but when I take her out on the town (ranked) I've been viciously accosted and last night I got so frustrated I switched back to Chun Li only to discover the rust had already set in! And honestly I find Nelly Karin so much more enjoyable to use...

Game Review: Street Fighter V

I didn't get a chance to participate in the Beta for Street Fighter V, but I think that may have been more of a benefit as the "final" product seems quite different than what some reported during the beta.
Street Fighter launched February 16, I didn't get it till April, the reason I held out was because of all the negative feedback I was reading regarding the complete absence of single player content as well as the connectivity issues.
So I've been on vacation for 2 weeks and put in some serious time with the game since I got it and yes the single player content offerings are abysmal but Street Fighter is at it's core a competitive 2 player game. And I'm willing to give SFV the benefit of the doubt with this new approach of incremental updates. Alex was the first DLC character made available from March 30th, Guile Just became available on April 29th along with his  stage....I say his stage because that was one thing myself and many others asked for in SFIV, character specific stages! And It certainly looks as though Capcom listened! Guiles Stage looks fantastic! I spent FM for it as well as Guile's Alt (no longer his primary outfit). This brings me to my next point FM (fight money) and the yet to be implemented Zenny ( in game currency purchased via real money). I am disgusted by the games that "offer" purchase-able upgrades in games, mostly mobile games otherwise know as PTW. It is the most blatant display of greed and disrespect for gamers and is detrimental to the gaming industry in my opinion, but I will give Capcom a pass on this as you the player have the choice to grind out the FM thru ranked matches, Survival, Trials and Story Mode. I had 330k FM when Guile became available, his stage cost 70K FM. Now winning ranked matches only nets you 50 FM a match so the game really needs the Daily challenges implemented soon! I am willing to use my FM on stages, and characters as they become available as long as I can earn adequate FM thru ranked matches as well as single player content. I fully intend to get Guile and Ibuki!

As far as the how the game plays, I'm pleased, I'm still trying to unlearn what I learned from SFIV, the basics feel close to SFII, what I mean is once everyone learns their characters inside out it will take more than a new game mechanic like Parry's/Focus/ V-skill to abuse to win you'll actually need to beat the other player....what's the tag line for Survivor? Outwit, Outplay, Outlast? You can't just throw out hard kick or a wakeup Shoryuken because the damage output is HIGH on punishes!
The V-skill system adds another layer to the game play, it's like if/when Akuma becomes avail, his V-trigger would transform him into Oni....gameplay wise. Although he might change visually also like Necalli, that would be cool.
Getting back to gameplay, it's Street Fighter the gameplay is tight and every current character feels balanced enough at this point to be competitive, some a little better than others....ahem Chun Li.
I have main'd Chun Li since 1992 SFII World Warriors so of course I'm extremely pleased with her in SFV but on the flip side of the coin I actually preferred the challenge of winning against Vanilla Sagat in SFIV.....now I understand the frustration of losing with such a powerful character.
Chun will always be my main but I'm currently focusing on Karin and Guile as potential secondary's. In fact this time around I intend to give each character some quality time (aprox 1 month) LP be damned so to get a broader feel for all the cast, which hopefully will assist me in the long run in matches....."to defeat your enemy you must understand your enemy".
Here are some matches I've had that I really enjoyed,

There were many people saying the game looks like SFIV 2.0 graphically it's more than that, I do have issues with Ken's face and Alex also....they did do a great job however with Guile, Karin, Vega, Bison, Rashid, Chun Li (I preferred original ver.), Necalli, Laura Matsuda, and R. Mika. I miss SFA Birdie but I'll deal with the change for changes sake with him and Nashenstien.
I'm sad we didn't get such an amazing intro song as SFIV's Indestructible but we'll have to do without I suppose....just kidding. The sound track is ok the tracks just don't seem to have the same impact as SFII did, although I'm digging Guile remixed theme!

I got PS+ specifically for this game, and I think it's way too soon to say whether Street Fighter V will go the way of SFIII or SFII & IV.....there seems to be a pattern.
All I can say is I'm enjoying the game, it has a solid foundation and I'm excited to see how the game evolves through 2016 and beyond!
8/10

Street Fighter V: Here Comes a New Challenger! F.A.N.G. Reveal

I'm seriously on the fence with F.A.N.G.
He's a hard core homage Kung Fu movie trope, similar to the two brothers from Kung Fu Hustle (I love that movie).
He's got potential but I can't believe he's Sagat's replacement as one of the 4 kings of Shadaloo. There's definitely something odd about his arms they seem disproportionate to his body. I think there's something freaky under his robes, I think his CA looks ridiculous and not in a good way.
The stage looks awesome!! But why the F is Buzz Light year running around????
What I am excited for is Sagat's new story which will finally see him let go of is hatred for losing to Ryu. Will he adopt a new pupil to train? Will Adon return to Sagat?
We see Balrog is still 1 of the 4 King's of Shadaloo so why isn't he in the core roster? I think the story will have him doubling down with the Illuminati and Shadaloo, that's why he's coming with the first wave of post launch DLC characters along with Alex and Urien.

Look it could be worse...Capcom could've created a character based on the villain from The Crippled Masters.......

SFV: SCR Exhibition Tournament

Here's some good Street Fighter V matches from the exhibition tournament at the SoCal Regionals Capcom Pro Tour. Laura Matsuda looks very dangerous at this point as did Karin.

Street Fighter V: Here Comes A New Challenger! Laura

After yesterday's lackluster reveal Famitsu decided to troll Ono San by beating him to the Dragon Punch....Ha ha see what I did there? They let the cat out of the bag and revealed the 3rd brand new fighter to the franchise days ahead of the planned reveal at the Brazil Games Show!
Ooopsie!!
We'll still need to wait for the trailer but here's Laura!
She looks like a capoeira practitioner, I think her design is great, she definitely looks like a Character that fits in the Street Fighter Universe. The bangles are a nice nod to the other capoeira fighter in the franchise, Elena. I like her gi and the half corn rolls are cool!

The 16 Character Core Roster has been updated courtesy of Capcom Unity member NeoPyroXx, So with Laura's early reveal planned for BGS I still believe Capcom will announce another character to coincide with NYCC which takes place the same dates as BGS 10/8 -10/11. It would definitely be an perfect opportunity to announce Alex's return or Tom's first appearance.....

Street Fighter V: Here Comes a Classic Challenger! Zangief Reveal

Holy Stolichnaya!
The Red Cyclone is back! After seeing Ono's tweet yesterday it was obvious but I didn't expect to see him so soon! I have to admit his reveal is no where near as hype as Karin's but I'm sure there are fans of the Red Cyclone such as AquaSilk that are happy to see him make the initial 16.

Street Fighter V Here Comes a New Challenger! Karin Kanzuki

So the Silicon Era report months ago was legit, this reveal is the one I've been hoping for and for me personally this has brought the hype more than any other reveal thus far. I'm diggin Karin's updated look, the outfit retains her original design but at the same time makes her appear older...not saying more mature😋

And the new Japan stage is gorgeous! There's a lot of characters in this stage and it pays a little homage to Kens SFA2 stage and also incorporates aspects of Ryu's stage.
I've watched the trailer twice and there are a lot of characters in this stage, I see Karin's ever dutiful butler is back and I thought I saw Dan Hibiki hanging from tree on the left side of the stage. I will definitely be watching this trailer again!
With Karin's reveal the "blue zone/alpha zone" is complete, so we have 2 open in the"green zone/ SFII zone" and 2 in the "purple zone/ new character zone" I'm guessing the next reveal will be a green zone character...wil it be a SFII character or a SFIII like Alex or Sean?

Along with Karin's reveal Capcom Unity also announced the Capcom Fighters Network Announcement:

Street Fighter V Here Comes a New Challenger: Rashid

Capcom announced today the second brand new fighter for SFV, from a never before represented location on the erf...the UAE! Rashid of the Turbulent Wind.
From the announcement trailer his gameplay is reminiscent of a mix between Cody and El Fuerte, his design isn't terribly stereotypical as is customary with so many fighting game characters.
I hope he doesn't turn into a gimmicky character gameplay wise.

Next character reveal will be at TGS on 9/20....my guess is either Sakura or Karin Kanzuki. Hopefully the later!

Street Fighter V R. Mika Reveal Trailer

Here comes a New challenger! R. Mika from Street Fighter Alpha 3 takes the third slot for alpha characters....that last slot better be Karin Kanzuki!!!
I'm not gonna lie and say this casting is awesome, for some people it might be, but I don't see myself taking Mika to the lab for any significant amount of time. I played her a little in SFA3 for the laughs.
Anyway here's Mika....

Kudo's to Capcom Unity member NeoPyroXx for the updated Roster image.

Next character reveal should be aproximately 9/10 at Games 15 in Dubai.

Street Fighter V New (old) character reveal trailer

Vega's back, Shadaloo's Narcissistic Spanish Ninja Returns and he looks just as fabulous as ever! I don't think Balrog will be in SFV initially but Sagat might. So we have 2 Shadaloo bosses and a lot hints at the Illuminati presence.

Street Fighter V New Character Reveal Necalli

Last night during the USFIV Evo finals the newest character for Street Fighter V was revealed!
Enter Necalli (Aztec for Battle) :

First off I love Necalli's design! The tatoo's, his boots, the tattered garb totally add to his character. His brutal game play reminds me of SFIV's Evil Ryu, and when his V trigger is active his hair reminds me of Gill!
We still don't know if Street Fighter V will take place before or after Street Fighter III chronologically but I have a theory that it is before. So a few weeks back there was some discussion floating around on certain FGC sites regarding a brand new character, Eisbahn, that utilized ice elemental attacks, Last night Necalli is revealed and clearly has an affinity to fire.
My current theory is that if we do get a character with an affinity to ice these two characters are the precursors to Gill. Their DNA may be used to create Gill by the Illuminati!

Check out the amazing images of the Newest Fighter to the Street Fighter franchise below!

UPDATE: An eagle eyed member of Capcom Unity, Ultimate Boss,  spotted something fascinating in Necalli's trailer at the 00:35 mark...

On the right side of the stage there's an entrance to a room inside the mountain! See the cracked rectangular block under the statue???

And as previously mentioned where have we seen those statues before???

Gill's SFIII Second Impact stage!

Street Fighter V: Ken Masters reveal trailer

LMAO and people believed Ken wasn't in the game!!! There aren't many certainties in life...Death, taxes are two and Ken and Ryu being in a Numbered Street Fighter game is another!
After watching the trailer Ken finally has cut the cord....he is 100% free from being a Shoto clone. My friend CJ and I had countless matches back in the early nineties with Ryu and Ken and he always taunted me saying Ryu had no mojo he was the most charismatic world warrior...33 years later Capcom has finally made Ken so much more appealing visually to play!

And who is the freak with the yellow eyes! Are those dreads?
