Love and Hate the FGC VS The Gun Violence blame game

Here we go again!
Another mass shooting in America, 2 actually and here comes the blame game from politicians....
I've been playing Video games since the Atari 2600, I've played Street Fighter since 1987 and many many other games that are "violent". I guess I'm waaaay overdue for a egregious act of violence!
Yes I get salty when I lose a match in Street Fighter...It's a competitive game and I'm competitive in nature...I like to win, who doesn't?
But the video game industry seems like an easy scapegoat to the talking heads, there's been an abundant number of case studies to prove Video games do not "make" people violent to the point they go into public places and unload a semi automatic rifle or blow up buildings with people!!!
Evo 2019 is coming to a close and this year Yoshinori Ono a veteran producer at Capcom who loves attending the World's premiere fighting game tournament and share his love of Street Fighter with all the attendees with a hearty SHORYUKEN and a trailer for new content.
But as mentioned this years announcement leaked early on Steam and Ono was so defeated he tweeted that he didn't even want to go to EVO this year.
I just want to show the love that the FGC has when united, yeah we play games that involve violence but there's a heart and a level of unity that resonates stronger than all these violent atrocities that politicians want to blame video games for.
I think the government needs to look elsewhere for the cause. It seems America isn't the top consumer of video games but God Damn we EXCEL at gun violence!!!!

Hype Train derailed days before departure!

8 months we've been waiting and today Steam leaked the trailer for the first 3 characters, are you serious?! This is ridiculous, Kage was leaked hours prior @ Capcom Cup and now the next 3 characters leaked  DAYS before EVO. These 3 characters are MONTHS late and for those of us who have been holding out hope that there was something coming this great news but there's something in my mind saying "that's it?". There has to be something else that caused Capcom to fall into radio silence for 8 months! If this was an executive decision to delay these characters and not keep open lines of communication someone needs to be fired.
I guess we'll find out Sunday night if there's "Much More" for us.
Now as far as the 3 characters are concerned
Honda: Meh some people will be glad he finally made it, others will be like why the F did you fuck up Vega and Birdie and leave Honda unchanged!
Lucia: Well X-Kira was absolutely right, NO ONE would've guessed this character from Final Fight 3 was coming!
Poison: Shoulda just made it Roxy, but regardless he's back. I like the whip swing, the Belmonts are impressed!
I have to admit if that's all we're getting regarding season 4 I'm not feeling any excitement at all!
So these 3 will be available on the 4th for $5.99 or 100k FM each or you can get em all on the 5th for $14.99 and save $2.98 that you can put towards Honda's Stage which costs $3.99 or 70k FM.

EVO 2019 and the fate of SFV

Another year another EVO approaches in 6 days, and what many in the FGC are wondering what does Capcom have in store for Street Fighter V? I've been playing SFV since launch and I have to admit, for the last month I really haven't felt much of an urge to play. Herein lies the problem with games as a service plan! When the players get accustomed to scheduled updates with new content and then the updates just go on hiatus the player base losses interest regardless if the game is solid and has plenty of content. Since it's launch there was a plan for updates and new content which was relatively reliable....until season 3 concluded

Dec 16th 2018 with Capcom Cup. It's now almost August 2019, 8 months later and we've got 1 new DLC character a shotoclone-clone, Kage. And a some random DLC like Field of Fate,  Ring of Justice, Suzaku Castle @ night (should be free if you bought the Suzaku Stage @ day DLC!), Kage monocle costume, and Sagat dew rag costume which is included in the CPT 2019 bundle, and a couple crossover costumes like Katt for Falke, Shade for Sagat, Devilotte for Menat.

This time last year we had Sakura in Jan, Blanka in Feb, Falke in April, Cody in June! And Sagat AND G released August 18th!
So I understand why so many have said SFV is "dead", Capcom isn't doing themselves any favors by going radio silent these last 7 months.
The question in my mind is HOW?
HOW will Ono and the SFV dev team resuscitate SFV?
HOW many characters are we getting revealed Sunday August 4th?
HOW much new content will we be getting, HOW much will this cost?
HOW will players be able to purchase the new characters aside from real money since FM seems to be a dead form of E-currency?
With PS5 launching holiday 2020 HOW can Ono say he doesn't have any SFVI news for EVO 2019....

Congratulations Problem X EVO 2018 Champion!

What an amazing Grand Final for SFV at EVO 2018! There were some great matches leading up to last nights final and some crazy upsets also. But the Grand Final between defending Champ Tokido and Problem X was the epitome of hype!

I knew we were gonna get some news for SFV last night during Final but I didn't see Capcom releasing both G and Sagat TODAY! As I jokingly said earlier many people will be forced to buy Sagat with real money when he launches with all the new additions to SFV that you can spend FM on (Fighting Chance, Continues in Survival) and little to no new ways of accruing FM.
I figured G was gonna come out later this month and Sagat was gonna come out mid/ late September. By then I'd have enough FM for Sagat for sure and maybe G as well but since Capcom is dropping them both today I'm currently short 32,780 FM for Sagat. When I woke this morning I saw the trailers for both of them and of course I watched Sagat's first, but then I watched G's and I gotta tell ya G's theme is old school hip hop hilarity!!! I despise Ed's them yet I LOVE G's!

SFV AE Weekly Missions and Extra Battle Mode for 8/2/18 - 8/9/18

It's Friday August 3rd, the 26th week of AE and this weeks missions went live at 12AM last night! This weeks missions are:
  1. Perform a Counter 10X for 150FM
  2. View a Demonstration for 250FM
  3. Win 10 Casual Matches for 1500FM
  4. Sakura's Urgent Errand for 2,500FM
I'll post a video below to show how to complete the requirements for Sakura's Urgent Errand.
Go to Story Mode, choose Character Story, choose Karin, choose the final chapter...viola! That's it! You don't even need to fight the CPU.

After completing the weekly missions, head over to the eXtra Battle Mode, this week we have :

1. Rashid's [Q&I] #1 for 2,500FM participation fee

2.  Experienced Shadaloo Soldier for 1000FM participation fee

3. Get your hands on Fortune Tix #6 for 250FM participation fee

This weeks missions can net you  4,400 FM.   Subtract the 2,500FM for Rashid's 1st [Q&I], subtract 3000FM for the 3 attempts against the Experienced Shadaloo Soldier and subtract  250FM for fighting Cannon Strike Cammy for some Fortune Tix.
So this week I ended up with -1,350 FM but because I was able to level up from beating the Experienced Shadaloo Soldier I made 1000FM so I ended up only -350FM.

EVO is this weekend to I'll be watching the SFV tournament hoping for PG Punk (Karin) or Fujimura (Ibuki).

Oh and Good Luck to Capcom Unity's Born Unique!

As always keep fighting the good fight. Be smart with your FM don't complain about the XBM golden soldiers and "Shin" versions of characters because the alternative is Capcom charging RM for all DLC characters.

EVO 2018 schedule

Wow it's that time again, time for THE FGC to rise up!
The EVO schedule and stream schedule is out for this coming weekend.
For me I'll be following the SFV schedule, for those on the east coast that can't convert time zones
Friday's Round 1 pools begin @ 12 pm EST
Saturday's Round 2 Pools begin @ 4 PM EST
Saturday's Semi's begin @ 8 PM
Sunday's Finals begin @ 1130 PM...I guess I'll find out the results Monday morning.
Last year I was hoping for PG Punk but Tokido dashed that dream, this year my FM is on Fujimura and his Ibuki.
I'm also curious to see more info regarding the Kill la Kill fighting game, I enjoyed the show (guilty pleasure). and the whole Seifuku/ blood letting to acquire power thing will be an interesting game mechanic!

EVO 2017 July 14-16

I still actively play SFV and enjoy it, I'm hoping to see PG Punk win EVO!
What games are you gonna watch the streams for? Me? SFV mostly

EVO 2016 Finals on ESPN Esports is real folks

I've been playing Street Fighter longer than some of the players at EVO have been alive, and seeing this franchise evolve from it's humble inception with the original Street Fighter (yes I played SF in the arcades....Adventures in Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers) in 1987 to becoming a World Wide phenomenon that single handedly ushered in the the Fighting Game Genre in 1991 with Street Fighter II and staved off the death of Arcades in America, to the inception of EVO (B3) in 1996 to the EVO Finals being broadcast on ESPN2 this year! This is very exciting to me since I've been with this franchise since day 1!
I actually got my wife and son to watch the Finals with me and I was worried it would seem amateurish to those who don't know anything about Esports or Fighting Games but I have to congratulate Ryan Gutierrez, Mike Ross and Seth Killian for doing an outstanding job hosting the Finals! And Congrats to Infiltration, Fuudo, Yukadon, GO-1, LI Joe, MOV, Nemo and Eita!

The Highlight for me was LI Joe, even my wife was hyped during these matches!

This one was a nail biter!

EVO 2015 Capcom Street Fighter V Panel

Check out the Street Fighter V panel at EVO 2015.
The direction Capcom is going with SFV is interesting to say the least!

  • 1 physical copy of Street Fighter V will ever be made
  • Additional characters will be added post launch on a regular basis
  • additional in game content (characters, outfits etc) avail via in game money (Zenny) or real life currency.
  • possibility of betting earned Zenny in matches
  • Street Fighter V is being planned as a generational title (10+ yrs)
  • Online integration of the Capcom Cup
  • Strong Focus on character balance and functionality
  • Re iteration of learning how to play the game by playing the opponent with skill versus manipulating in game mechanics
  • Strong Focus on making the game fun and accessible for new players and deep enough for vets of the FGC.

This years EVO is less than a month away! July 11-13 at the Las Vegas Hilton.
This years game line up includes:
Ultra Street Fighter IV
Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3
Killer Instinct
Injustice: Gods Among Us
King of the Fighters XIII
Super Smash Bros: Mele
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
BlazBlue: ChronoPhantasma

Here are some of the highlights from last years EVO tournament...

Ultra Street Fighter IV

So it wasn't Super Street Fighter IV AE ver 2013/2014, it wasn't Hyper Street Fighter IV, it was much more obvious than that!
For those who are slightly disapointed with the Ctrl C, ctrl V job...lets remember SFIV came out in 2009! There is no other game this generation that has had the longevity and support tat this game has! Obviously they didn't have to make USFIV, but I appreciate the fact that they did...I'm fairly certain most SFIV resources have been reallocated to next gen projects, so thank you Capcom.
As a fan of the franchise since the original SF I'm looking forward to Ultra Street Fighter IV and eventually SF V!
The one thing I was hoping along with the USFIV announcement was some news on the Street Fighter Assasins Fist project...alas nothing.

Also maybe it was just me but the stream died on my phone last night during the UMVC3 grand finals between Justin Wong and EMP Flocker during the second set when it was 2-1 Flocker! I lost it and ran to the computer that the wife was on and jumped onto the stream only to see Alex Vaille getting a commemorative trophy FFFFFFFFFUUUUU!!!!!!
Can someone tell me what happened?
I stayed up to watch the trailer for USFIV then passed out....getting up for work at 4:45 am SUCKS!
Kinda pissed I didn't get to watch any of the SSFIV finals!
Updates on that would also be much appreciated!....Mike I'm looking at you ;)
So you got Sonia to watch EVO!? Very cool!
D was like your all NERDS!
Can't wait till EVO gets televised on ESPN or some shit one day!
C'mon they have poker tourney and billiards! ESports is coming folks! Mark my words.

EVO2K13 Capcom Street Fighter IV Update Panel

Yesterday Capcom held a Street Fighter Update panel and they announced the next version of Street Fighter IV!
5 "new" characters
  • Hugo
  • Elena
  • Poison
  • Rolento
  • ???

And 1 never before in a Street Fighter game character.... My money's on Asura! Easy to see him being Oni's rival! Yet another Shotoclone!

6 new stages!
That's cool, but why have we had to wait almost 5 years for more stages? This is something the community has been asking for since Vanilla.

New modes Stay Tuned...

The game will be avail via:
  • Digital upgrade version -$14.99
  • Retail version (disk) - $39.99 all previous DLC costumes incl. Pre-order bonus = 5 Udon designed costumes for the new characters
  • Full Digital Version - $39.99 all previous DLC costumes incl. Pre-order bonus = 5 Udon designed costumes for the new characters
Release date: Early 2014

Title: Not SSFIVAE ver. 2014
...my guess is either Super Street Fighter IV Champion Edition or Hyper Street Fighter IV

EVO 2K13

So Evo 2K13 started yesterday I watched as much as I could while at work.
The streams are

And here is the EVO 2K13 stream schedule

So I know two guys from Capcom Unity that went to EVO this year, Rythmic and Zerofinity, both are amazing with their respective mains...Bison and Dhalsim.
Best of Luck to both of you!
I've been waiting patiently for two announcements the first is the next update for Super Street Fighter IV AE 2013 and the second is an update on the Street Fighter Assassins Fist series.
It seems the first hints at the next version of Street Fighter IV leaked and it appears it may not be SSFIVAE2013 but perhaps Hyper Street Fighter IV! Check out these leaked pics!

If these above pics are to be believed I think we can assume there's a good chance the SFXT characters will make it and the roster will be upped by 8.
  • Alex
  • Rolento
  • Hugo
  • Poison
  • Elena
  • Karin*
  • Oro*
  • Sean*
With those 8 and Yun Yang Evil Ryu and Oni that would make a clean row of 12 in the roster screen

EVO 2K12 SSFIVAE Finals

I totally missed EVO this year while on vacation but here's the full SSFIV AE 2012 EVO 2K12 Finals. I'm shocked how Infiltration totally shut down Daigo's Ryu!
Daigo seemed disconnected before the match even began, but Infiltratration's Akuma was top notch and he obviously studied Daigo's Ryu intently to be able to read Diago's game so well.
Grats to Gamerbee and his Adon, that was a great match between him and Xiao Hai's Cammy! And congratulations to Infiltration on the EVO 2012 SSFIV AE championship!

Winter Brawl 6 trailer

I almost went to this....A guy I spar with from Capcom Unity/SRK almost convinced me to go but my delusions of grandeur fizzled away once I looked at my 2 year old son. Back in the day I thought about entering a Street Fighter competition but that was waaay back before EVO existed and it was called B3 (Battle By the Bay). If I ever go to a fighting game tournament it'll be to watch my son compete in the future....
Anyway good luck Doc Shadow rep Unity well!

Olympic Gold..BAH! GamerBee reached top 8 in EVO 2010

Four days have past and Gamerbee has returned home to Taiwan after defeating Justin Wong. You ask "What's EVO?" here in the US and most people will say a car made by Mitsubishi, but in Taiwan gaming is a large part of the culture and this dude "Gamerbee" makes the prime time news!
Poor Justin Wong, all he gets is another video on Youtube of a "shocking loss"...better luck next year dude.
DAIGO RULEZ TEH HADOKEN :P
