Fringe S5 E95 The Human Kind Recap

Fridays episode The Human Kind was a decent episode, the episode really showed Olivia's strength...mentally and emotionally. She just lost her daughter a second time, she's losing Peter to the Observer implant in his brain and they're no closer to defeating the Observers than they were at the start of Walters wild goose chase, but she hunkers down and focuses on the mission.
The highlight for me was the cat and mouse between Peter and Windmark that culminated in the fight in the warehouse.
My only gripe with the episode was how in God's name did Olivia find Peter in all of Manhattan after securing the electromagnet!? I loved the scene, it was powerful and rang true....and didn't feel cheesy at all.
I understand, story-wise, the significance of Peter removing the observer tech himself but it just made me scratch my head and think...."that can't be safe! He can't see what he's doing. Maybe you should let Olivia do that..."

Fringe S5 E93 Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There Recap

Last nights episode reemphasizes why this show has such a passionate fan base! As usual I'm digesting what I saw last night and altering my theories of how the series is going to conclude and my latest theory is  the infinity loop...
The actions and choices Peter has made since Etta's death lead me to believe that Peter Bishop is the first Observer. With the observer tech in Peters head we see he's able to do things not possible for humans of that time to do. Now that Peter has figured out how to "teleport" what to stop him from traveling throughout time like September and the other Observers are able to do. And if he does figure out how to do that what's to stop him from going back to the point where  Captain Windmark kills Etta....
This episode began to show multiple Splits within the group, Walter realizing he is losing himself to his "original" self since he's   re attached the lobotomized part of his brain, Peters split with himself since he's added the Observer tech in his brain, and the divide that is beginning to show between Olivia and Peter...which is seen at the start of the episode when Peter is watching the hologram of Etta without Olivia, then when she shows up she says I don't want to lose you again (holy fore- shadowing batman!) and at the end when Peter and Olivia are on the monorail sitting apart from each other but facing each other. Great Episode, good character development, plot advancement, with a perfect balance of emotional moments and action. My wife and I love watching Peter beating Observers mentally and physically.
Someone needs to make a Peter Bishop teleport/neck break .gif with the Mortal Kombat "FINISH HIM" fatality text overlay!

Fringe S5 E93 Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There

The last two episodes of Fringe have finally given the show some momentum...I love angry/determined Peter and when he got all up in that observers face my wife and I were totally cheering him on...everyone loves an underdog!  When Peter removed that tech from the observers skull it seemed very irrational and almost out of character for Peter but circumstances being what they are it is believable....I would definately react the same way if I were in his shoes.
Tonights episode looks promising and I can definately see where the writers are going with the parallel situations with Walter and Peter loosing their children.

















 

Fringe S5E91 The Bullet That Saved the World Preview

Hey it's Fringe Friday folks and tonight's episode The Bullet That Saved the World  sees the return of old man Broyles and more 80's references!
There's only 9 more episodes and I'm kinda on the fence with the shows momentum, I'm struggling to stay focused....every week I'm hoping for some interesting reveal like we got from the first two seasons...alternate universes, Angry Peter, Walternate and his gang.....something....anything, but all we have so far is tree bark people, jaded Etta, and the mystery of Walters VHS tapes....meh.

Fringe S5 E89: In Absentia

Friday's episode, In Absentia we get a closer look at the state of Humanity since the Observers have arrived. Humanity is split between Loyalists and Rebels and how the harshness of this reality has changed us. As a parent of a soon to be 3 y/o I may have related to Olivia's situation more than those without children. One of the things I worry  about is my son losing his childhood innocence. The episode really did a great of showing how the harshness of the this realities timeline has stolen Peter and Olivia's child's innocence and made her a cold calculating, merciless rebel.
The highlight of this episode for me was the conversation between  Olivia and Etta during Manfretti's interrogation...

Etta: You don't know my world.
Olivia: You're right, I don't know your world. But I had hoped for you that, wherever you were, you weren't hardened by what had happened to you.And it not that I don't see what the observers have wrought I do. But what concerns me is what they've taken away.
Etta: This is the world, it is what it is.

That conversation saddened me because it could easily be a conversation between a parent and child in real life today.
Overall the episode did what it had to do, it showed the effects the Observers have had on humanity and the dire state we are in, you either become a pet of the Observers or a lab rat. Other than that the Fight for the Future barely moved forward.
I am curious what, if anything, we will find if Olivia goes to the address Manfretti gave her....obviously not his son.
So once the team got power back to the lab we finally begin making progress on the plan to save humanity from.......humanity.
A couple questions crossed my mind after this episode, if September (an observer) was able to travel around time and across alternate universes why is it Captain Windmark and the observers having such difficulty finding Walter and the gang.
The other thing that struck me as odd was the VHS tape, something just seemed wrong with that scene, why is Walter recording on a VHS tape....and what's the significance of the comment about the grape twizzlers! Was that a different Walter recording that message?
And where is that cow?!

Fringe S5 E88: Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11

The first episode of season 5 titled,  Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11 was a good start to the final season, the pacing was good and there was never a lull throughout. The jump to the year 2036 opens up so much potential story line but with only 13 episodes left the writers of Fringe hopefully have a clear idea of how they are going to conclude this fantastic series.
As usual John Noble delivered an amazing performance, the interrogation scene with Captain Windmark was very powerful and was totally believable that Walters mind was being ravaged as Windmark searched for info. I imagined Michael Douglas in Black Rain tearing apart the gang hideout but that was what was happening to Walters mind.
I like Georgina Haig's character Etta, Daughter of Peter and Olivia, she resonates a mental fortitude and determination that both Peter and Olivia have....or had. I got the impression that both Peter and Olivia were tired...dejected that after everything they went through they still couldn't save their timelines future. Etta felt like she was humanities torch bearer.
After letting the events of the episode sink in and pondering what this universe is going to do to defeat the "observers". I thought to myself what if September fragmented the info betwenn Walter AND Walternate!
And the only way to access it is for both Walters to use the Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11 from their respective universes....in essence a mind meld with both Walters!
The finale scene where Walter is blinded by the sun reflecting off of the CD's also hints to my theory....reflection of himself....on half a disk. I think the sun will also play some part in the conclusion of Fringe...the yellow dandelion, the song Only You by Yazoo.....I did a little Google search and looky at what I found!

Fringe Season 5 promo 1 "Etta"

The final season of Fringe is coming...it is inevitable....everything must end. I have been a fan of the show since S01E01 and it's sad that the show will end after after 13 episodes but the fourth season was my least favorite so perhaps the last season will conclude in an epic way, the way season 1 and 2 did. The promo's are starting to pop up and the first promo Etta is unnerving especially for parents with young children...2036 looks to be a bad year.

Fringe Friday S4 E85 Worlds Apart + Fringe will return for 5th season!

Hey Fringe fans, tonight is #fringefriday! Tonights episode World Apart  Olivia and Fauxlivia and the two fringe teams unite to fight a common enemy....
After tonight the final 2 episodes of season 4 Brave New World will   surely leave us with one hell of a cliff hanger until Fringe returns for it's 5th and final season which was reported last night!

Fringe S4 E84 Letters of Transit

Last nights episode really came out of left field, it gave us another glimpse at a possible future. And this one is only slightly better than the one we saw at the end of season 3.
The new intro really grabbed my attention, and I knew immediately that the show was about to explore a new facet of the Fringe Universe.
Honestly, this change of scenery is a very welcome one for me as I was growing weary of the Peter-Olivia love story. And the revelation in episode 80 "A Short Story About Love" left me feeling let down.
Last nights episode leaves me with hope that the Fringe team still has their work cut out and that we will see Walter, Peter, Olivia and the rest of the fringe team back for season 5!
I enjoyed the episode tremendously, Henry Ian Cusick (Agent Simon Foster) and Georgina Haig (Etta) were a perfect fit for future fringe agents. The episode balanced the serious nature of events of this possible future with some jems of hilarity, Walter Bishop, "these aren't the droids you're looking for"....."move along".
A few questions remain and those of you who haven't watched the episode can stop reading now, spoilers ahoy!
I got the impression this was a future from the alt universe as I spotted the fringe logo with the back to back F's in the beggining of the episode yet Nina Sharp is seen sympathizing with Etta...
And a huge WTF to seeing Belly in the Amber! I get the distinct impression this future is an effect caused by friend to all, David Robert Jones...

Fringe S4 E15: A Short Story About Love

I've been a fan of fringe since the first season, I have enjoyed almost every episode to to some extent. some skirt the border of mediocre and some elevate the show to such lofty heights....last nights episode truly disappointed, the weekly case du jour was weak sauce and just when things started getting interesting with Peter tracking the mysterious pod/drill last seen in season one, September pulls an Princess Leia holo message moment and tells Peter [spoiler] He has been in his universe the whole time[/spoiler] and [spoiler] love is what kept him from being completely erased from existance[/spoiler].
It felt like such a total cop out and all the tension and drama culminating from the start of the season was all for naught. I waited 3 weeks while Fringe was on hiatus for THAT!? Worst episode of the entire series and next weeks preview did nothing to regain my interest, looks like the fringe team is tracking down a reject from the TMNT movies...

Fringe S4 E1: Neither Here Nor There

A fantastic start to the fourth season of the best show on  television!
I need to re watch episode 3.22 "The Day we Died" I could swear the Observer August says to Observer September that Peter Bishop never existed.
Season 4 episode 1 "Neither here Nor There" begins a week after Peter Bishop unites the two warring universes and seemingly vanishes from existence, Lincoln Lee and his partner chase a man into a warehouse Lee's partner is killed by a mysterious translucent man. Olivia informs agent Lee that she will be taking over the investigation, Lee refuses but Olivia pulls rank...a rank Lee is totally unaware of and drives off. Not satisfied Lee tracks Dunham to the Lab at Harvard where he meets the Fringe team. Just as Olivia is about to rip agent Lee a new one she gets a call of another incident this time involving a female driver.
Meanwhile Observer September is tasked with ensuring all of Peter Bishop's existence is totally erased. He visits an antique shop to collect the parts he needs to build a device that will erase Peter Bishop forever. Once completed he sits outside the Harvard lab with the device concealed in a briefcase, September pauses then shuts the briefcase and walks off in the night.
Dunham and Lee eventually track down the translucent mans hideout Dunham kills one but Lee realizes there's a second and tracks it down and kills it. Afterwards Olivia decides to bring Agent Lee up to speed and takes him to the hangar where the machine is.
"Neither Here Nor There" was a great episode that effectively shows effects of Peters decision in the final episode in season 3. There are new threats to our universe, but are they from Walternate or a newly created threat resulting from Peter Bishops decision? Also Peter has not been completely erased from existence because he is seen by us the viewers for a fraction of a second and apparently Walter has seen him but doesn't recognize him...or doesn't recognize peter as an adult. Walter does mutter something  about seeing the one you love die twice. Is one of the effects of Peters decision that in this timeline both Peters die? I think the effect of Peters choice is that he now exists in a third universe.

Fringe Season 4 Premiere Tonight!

Season 4 premiere of Fringe is tonight 9/8c!
Nothing compares to this show! I cannot wait for tonight's episode! I have read some great theories on the fringe boards the interwebs will be inundated with awesome speculation....mine included.

Fringe moving to Friday Night slot >:(

Hey whatcha doing friday night between 9 and 10 pm? Better yet what aren't you doing?
If you're like most people you're not sitting at home on the couch watching TV. Well the goddam geniuses that assign the slots for the shows on FOX just moved THE BEST show on TV, Fringe, to Friday nights 9PM-10PM EST! American Idol moves to Wednesday's and Thursdays 8PM-9PM EST followed by Bones on thursdays from 9-10 (Fringe current slot). I'm not upset that Bones is taking Fringe's slot, I'm furious that they moved the smoking pile of excrement American Idol to Wednesdays & Thursdays thus pushing Bones and bumping Fringe to the Friday night death slot!

FOX is announcing premiere dates of new and returning series, as well as revisions to its 2010-2011 midseason schedule, including AMERICAN IDOL moving to Wednesdays and Thursdays and GLEE continuing to lead off FOX’s Tuesday night of comedies featuring RAISING HOPE and the debut of MIXED SIGNALS.

Fringe "peter"

Last nights episode was fantastic! I loved the retro intro! LMAO at Nina's mobile phone! and "Is this Russian technology?" We all knew the major events but it was still cool to see how the minor details weren't overlooked such as Nina's hand. The scene where Walter and his assistant have a confrontation in the lab was so powerful...I felt the darkside over coming Walter! Fantastic acting!!!!I'm guessing the blonde assistant is the one that dies in the "lab accident", the episode where Peter tries to protect Walter from her daughter. One thing I noticed is it appears the observers can cross between universes with out any technology.
Fox has an A+ show and it seems they know it, fantastic start to a new season!

Fringe Season Finale

I have to say that was one of the BEST season finale's I've ever seen! I was 99% sure who's name was on the tombstone, my wife was like HOW THE HELL did you know that! and when Olivia was in the elevator I knew once it past the 14th floor on the way down something was gonna happen.

Personally I LOVED the ending, but I'm afraid some people may be offened by it. This episode sealed the deal IMO. Fantastic season ender! Not to mention we finally meet William Bell!
If you haven't seen Fringe, yet I highly recomend it!

Fringe debut

The fall TV season has just begun and honestly I'm having a real hard time finding "must see TV". The last show I was really into was CSI, but even that isn't what it used to be. Honestly our TV gets more use from the PS3 and the DVD player! I did however catch a few TV spots for the new JJ Abrams show Fringe, which has the feel of early X-Files episodes and well hey this is the guy who did Lost and Cloverfield! I missed out on Lost and never saw Cloverfield, but this show looks promising. Fringe debuts Tuesday 9/9/08 on Fox from 8pm est to 9:30 est. I'm setting the DVR for this debut.
