Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens Drew Struzan Poster Analysis

There was an abundance of news yesterday from the D23 expo! From Star Wars Land being built in Disney World and Land, to the cast announcement for Rogue One, to Colin Trevarrow directing Episode IX.
That stuff is very cool and exciting but this poster from Dew Struzan is what really caught my eye!
At first I was quite surprised seeing Fin (John Boyega) holding what might be Anakin's Lightsaber, but lets look beyond that.
How did that monologue go in the first trailer ???
There has been an awakening...
Have you felt it?
The Dark side and the Light...
Now lets look at Struzan's poster, there's the three main characters on the top.... Kylo Ren on the right who represents the Dark side with the cold darkness of space as his backdrop and our boy Fin on the left clearly repping the Light side with the warm light of the Jakku sun behind him and smack dab in the center is Rey....
So is Rey not the hero of the ST? Up until this poster I was under the impression Kylo was the primary antagonist of Episode VII and Kira Rey was the primary protagonist....now I don't know. Does Kira represent both the light and dark sides in perfect balance?
And then we have everyone's favorite scoundrel rocking his trusty blaster under Fin.....alone...no sign of Chewie, No Leia, No sign of Luke or Leia....very odd. No sign of the Falcon.
I gotta say this poster seems lacking.
So based on this poster and recent revelation that Han Solo had a wife....here's my crazy ass hypothesis!

Fin is the biological son of Sana and Hann Solo, Hann assumed for whatever reason is family was killed by either the Hutts (debts to the mob...) or the Empire (war).
He meets up with Ben, Luke and Leia and a new life presents itself...
Han and Leia adopt 2 war orphans Kira and Kylo after RotJ and here's how we land at the above poster...
I doubt this will come to fruition but hey how much do we know about Lando...we know Hann knows him, we know Lando is a scoundrel, but we know little to nothing about Lando's family from the films....maybe Lando had a sister...

Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens (reborn) Speculation #5

Every now and then an idea pops into my mind about the ST and this latest one I think may actually solve the mystery of The Force Awakens!
In order to understand how The Force Awakens fits in with the PT and OT you need to believe that the force is NOT in balance and hasn't been since the end of Return of the Jedi. This goes back to my belief that for balance to be achieved you need equal parts light and dark....yin and yang. With Luke representing the light side and no Sith to represent the dark side the Force is certainly not in balance!

My theory is supported by the Star Wars ring theory here: starwarsringtheory.com/ which is a worthwhile read for any Star Wars fan.
So how does the ring theory help us figure how The Force Awakens fits into the saga? Lets begin by looking at the two main characters, Rey and Kylo Ren, last year many sites were calling Daisey Ridley's character Kira, now she's being called Rey. I'm going to say her actual name is probably Kira Rey (ray...of light) and Kylo Ren (rend...break or divide) is her "brother", I don't believe this is a coincidence, I also believe Kira Rey and Kylo Ren represent the light side and the dark that Andy Serkis mentions in the first trailer.

So how does Kira Rey and Kylo Ren fit into the saga? I've heard a few theories the most prominent being they are the off spring of Han and Leia Solo. I think this is partially correct, what has been going on in the Star Wars saga for a long long time? I'll give you a clue....it's in the title....yes WARS, and what do wars create?
Orphans.
Luke was an orphan, under the guardianship of his aunt Beru and Uncle Owen, Leia was also an orphan under the guardianship of a Senator, the actions of their father, Anakin Skywalker set their future destinies.
But what about Anakin Skywalker? Was he the the creation of manipulated midichlorians by a Sith or an immaculate conception of sorts....the force made flesh? I believe it's the later. Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader was the light and dark sides of the force which was best visualized in season 3 of The Clone Wars in the Mortis story arc.

As of this writing popular opinion is that Kira Rey is the daughter of Han and Leia. Perhaps Kylo Ren was under the guardianship of Han and Leia as well but left them at a young age. Let me elaborate a bit, at the conclusion of RotJ the rebels struck a major blow to the Empire with the victory at the battle of Endor, with the death of the Emperor we all believed the the republic was reborn, well we know now that's not the case, but the playing field between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance isn't as disproportionate.  I believe shortly after the events of RotJ Han and Leia got married but soon the reality that the Empire wasn't going to just crumble and wither away after Palpatine's demise Leia returned to her destiny of following in her mothers footsteps and devoted herself to the political arena, years past and the hopes of having children of their own slipped through their fingers like the sands of time, but an opportunity crossed their path to have the family they dreamed of and it also was a calculated politcal move that would bolster public opinion for Leia. They adopted two war orphans. Kira Rey Solo and Kylo Ren Solo.
But in times of war records are lost, and these two had no records of who their family was or where they came from. But in this case they didn't have any records of their past because they weren't children of humans, like Anakin they were created by the force, but unlike Anakin who was the embodiment of the light and dark sides of the force, Kira Rey and Kylo Ren each represent one side of the force.
Now here's something I find very interesting! I recently read somewhere that Kylo Ren believes he is Darth Vader and tells his subordinates such. Is he that in awe of the legacy of Darth Vader that he has convinced himself he's Darth Vader? Is he using this to instill fear in those around him?  I don't think so I honestly think Kylo Ren IS Darth Vader. If you accept that Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader was one and the same Light and Dark when he died and returned to the force what then?
Will we see a force ghost of Anakin Skywalker in the ST? I don't think so, why? Because Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader has been reborn as Kira Rey and Kylo Ren!

Remember the whole story of Darth Plaugeus at the opera house? If my theory is correct Darth Sidious had the answer sitting right by his side and never realized it! How ironic......

Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens Speculation #4

So I read the latest batch of TFA rumors and if the info is correct I'm more convinced than ever that The Force Awakens is gonna be an amalgamation of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Star Wars, especially the part about Luke and the tomb and the kyber crystal that unlocks the tomb that Kylo Ren is trying to find and unlock.
Somehow I already knew they info about Rey and who she's related to.
And the bit about Leia having to decide whether or not to use a weapon capable of destroying a planet is an interesting juxtaposition from when she witnessed the destruction of  Dantooine.
I like the idea that perhaps the situation is so dire that a proposal  to build a weapon with firepower of equal magnitude is put on the table. I pray it's not another Death Star though!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Speculation/Theory #3

So in my last speculation/theory post I focused on Kira Rey and Luke, this time around I'm gonna focus on the Dark Side.
There was an interesting leak on the interwebz awhile back it briefly talked  about the role Andy Serkis will play and his character.
According to the article it's implied that Serkis' character had some association with Palpatine/Sidious pre TPM.
And as far as I recall the only Sith mentioned pre TPM was in episode III at the opera when Palpatine tells Anakin about Darth Plagueis.
"He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power...which, eventually of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew. Then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death...but not himself."

So the voice in the first trailer is confirmed to be Serkis, and according to the article I read Serkis plays an ancient alien Sith Lord....that may have some connection to Sidious pre TPM. Based on what Sidious tells Anakin it could be a red herring to lure Anakin closer to the Sith or Darth Plagueis was truly Sidious's master and was "killed" by him in his sleep. But perhaps this ancient evil allowed his apprentice to "kill" him giving himself to the force much like how Obi Wan did in episode IV, because he discovered a way to cheat death and return in another body.
I'm not anti to the idea of Darth Plagueis being the alpha Sith in this trilogy, it would connect the Prequel Trilogy to the Sequel Trilogy but many of the senators at the Galactic Senate are not as keen to the idea. And if Serkis plays some other ancient Sith that's somehow survived in the shadows during all the events of the PT and OT so be it but that is gonna need some real good explanation! Other wise it will just seem like wise ol' Master Yoda made up the Sith Rule of Two.
Now onto Kylo Ren...

he could be an interesting Sith....is he the supposed collector of ancient Sith relics? I hope so because that would lend credence to the cruciform Lightsaber with the unrefined blade and his recently revealed helmet.
As far as the lightsaber I'd accept rudimentary understanding of lightsaber construction or ancient Sith artifact.

The helmet, IMO is too similar to Vaders' especially without the gold highlights which apparently have been removed in the final design. I much rather find out this was an ancient Sith armor design when the Sith Order was at it's Apex and Vader's Helmet was an Updated version of this design. Otherwise it's uninspired and unoriginal IMO.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Speculation/Theory #2

Based on Friday's article on io9 I have taken all I've read so far and come up with a plausible theory of how Episode VII may play out. Kira finds Lukes lightsaber and shows it to the local tavern/cantina owner, he doesn't know what it is but the crazy ol Cyborg von Sidow spots the light saber and suddenly becomes coherent and offers to help Kira. The cyborg happens to know someone whose  very interested in Jedi antiques. Han and Chewie just happen to be doing some honey do job (find Luke...he's our only hope) for senator Leia Solo-organa-skywalker in the very same place is asked to take them to planet (x) to meet with this antique collector (think Walter Donovan from IJatLC). Before they leave the cyborg contacts someone and says "It's been located". So Kira, Hann, Chewie, and the mysterious cyborg set out to meet this antiquity collector, once they meet he shows them his impressive collection, Han spot Vader's helmet in a glass case but acts like he's unaware of what it is. The collector  hires them to find some other Jedi/Sith artifact which eventually will lead them to the planet Luke has been hiding on for the last 20/30.

Like my original theory Luke becomes a hermit because of his fear of how powerful he's become as mentioned in the io9  article . Perhaps Luke has discovered the same power Darth Plagueis had mastered....eternal life by becoming one with the force without leaving his physical body.

I think it would be pretty awesome if Kira tracks down Luke similarly to how Indiana Jones tracked down the Holy Grail in IJatLC and must go through rooms full of traps

at Lukes temple to save (Han?). Once she finds him at the rumored temple Luke is in a room in such a deep meditative state that he appears unconscious but levitating slightly off the ground with stones levitating around around the room. He is unaffected by Kira's presence but when the villain enters moments later his eyes open and stands up from his levitating sitting stance, the stones drop to the floor and there is a luminous glow around him. Kira is shoved to the side as the villain ignites a lightsaber and charges Luke. Luke's new lightsaber levitates from under his robes in front of him and parries the attacks in a similar way Vader parried Lukes attacks in TESB. The villain attempts to force push Luke as Luke floats closer towards the antagonist but Luke isn't budged as his robes show the force of the villains force push. Luke counters by force pulling the antagonist towards him.
Anyway that's my lastest theory. It is said Luke saves the day in a bad way....I don't think Luke will die in VII but I do have a feeling he will in IX and by someone close to him...a phantom menace so to speak.
Darth Kira has a nice ring to it, doesn't it...
"He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power...which, eventually of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew. Then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death...but not himself."

Star Wars Episode VII: create your own movie poster

I really wasn't planning on posting any of those leaked Ep VII pics from SWU last week but of all the pics this one grabbed my attention....there's more to this pic than what you initially see. Based on the rumors I've read we'll be visiting a planet with snowy mountainous terrain (not Hoth) in the search for Luke (all rumors). I also see a lot of Tie Fighters. Does anyone else see anything in the pic?

Star Wars Episode VII: Rumor Round Up, my feelings and theories thus far...

So last year, before any rumors dropped, before any casting had been announced, before Harrison Ford was accosted by his own ship I wrote up my own Star Wars Episode VII Speculation / Theory . I've been keeping up with the updates and speculation/rumors that have hit the interwebs and the latest rumors of Luke missing for 30 years and Han's son turning to the dark side sound an awful lot like what I wrote last year!
Most of the crap I've read is cringe inducing....Cyborg Palpatine.... Han and Chewie commanding a Star Destroyer....Jedi Hunters

So my friend Javen pointed me to the latest cover of GQ and Adam Driver is sportin' some really familiar threads! I instantly thought of Han Solo!
Even if it wasn't intentional, the resemblance is definitively there.
LMAO there's also an article in that issue for Han...."How to be polite to a woman without pissing her off."
...."Yes your worshipfullness"

Oh and that pic of Mark Hamill rocking the beard was cool, I can totally imagine the scene I mentioned in my Star Wars Episode VII Speculation/Theory happening.  With the most recent rumors that Hann is searching for Luke who's been MIA for 10-30 years I began thinking, how long was Ben Kenobi stuck on Tatooine watching Luke from the shadows? And what happened to Ol' Ben Kenobi?

Also if the rumors are true that the galaxy is in a state of cold war, the children of Han and Leia (if they did get hitched)  may not have all the facts and as young people usually are, rebellious towards their parents and side with Empire....hmmm children of rebels, rebeling against their parents.....

And if Max Von Sydow isn't a Sith I'll be a Gungan's uncle!

Oh and then there's these set pics...I'm going with Yavin 4, alsoI got dibs on that sweet ass black X Wing!!

Star Wars Episode VII Speculation/theory

I haven't written anything regarding the sequel trilogy yet because honestly there's little to no info regarding the direction episode VII is going to take. We know JJ Abrams is directing, we know Kathleen Kennedy has left JP4 to focus on the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy.
I've read the rumor that John Noble (Walter Bishop/Denethor) may be involved...if this materializes into something more tangible I think he would be a phenomenal Sith Lord!
So a long time ago...1995/1996 I registered at a little site known as the Galactic Senate, when the prequel trilogy was announced that site  blew up with speculation and from many knowledgeable fans some really great ideas came to fruition....some better than what we saw on the silver screen.
Since the prequels ended I haven't posted there much but yesterday I ventured over and started reading some early speculation about episode VII. Most of what was being discussed revolved around Mark Hamill and how he's been asked if he'd want to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker and how it will tie into the Sequel Trilogy.
Most theories revolved around Luke forming a new Jedi Order after the events of RotJ....this seems to be the most popular belief of state of that galaxy far far away after Vader tosses the Emperor over the edge and then dies from his wounds leaving Luke as the last remnant of the Jedi (not counting Yoda's mention of another).
We're all told that the outcome of the events from RotJ had brought the force back into balance, I have to disagree!
Everyone is assuming Luke continues down the path/life of a Jedi.
 Balance=equality=1 to 1 ratio.
Here is my theory of why Lucas Film has approached Mark, Harrison and Carrie and how they will fit into the ST.
What if Luke becomes a recluse/hermit? Why would he choose this path?
Because Luke realizes to truly bring balance to the force there must be equilibrium If the Sith are truly extinct then the Jedi must fade away as well...Yin/Yang, equality, balance! Luke realizes this and chooses to let go of all he loves and fade into obscurity to achieve true balance, the last thing he tells Leia is to never mention to her children anything of Anakin, Darth Vader the force or of their family history....in essence let the legends fade into obscure legends of hokey religions.
Leia not being a fan of the force and the whole Jedi/Sith mess because of what she learned about her father promises without hesitation and follows in her maternal mother's footsteps and pursues a career in galactic politics as the Republic begins to recover from the fall out of the Empire.

If there's one thing thing I know Lucas loves to do is mirror events in the Star Wars Universe and flip them on their heads, this is seen throughout the PT compared to the OT.
So X amount of years after the events of RotJ Leia Organa marries Han Solo (this is what 90% of fans assume) and have X number of offspring, 3 if were borrowing from the EU.
Leia keeps her promise to her brother, but curiosity killed the cat and one of Han and Leia's kids begins to question who this uncle Luke guy is that mom and Dad mention every once and awhile. His curiosity leads him to extra curricular studies where he learns more about that hokey religion that seems very taboo to talk about these days.
I'm gonna guess the Solo kids will be around the same age as Luke was in ANH and if Leia is all in politics they may live on one of three planets, Coruscant, Naboo, or some yet to be seen planet.
So while mom's off doing politics on Coruscant, and Dad's off with Lando working out some business this curious kid somehow travels to Tatooine to find out more about this Uncle Luke guy and gets in over his head with some locals or sand people and just as the Batha poodoo is about to hit the proverbial exhaust port a hooded cloaked figure scares of the attackers crouches down on bended knee and places one hand on the solo kids head.
As he sits up the mysterious man pulls the hood back and it's Luke Skywalker!

Am I the only one who thinks Mark Hamill mirroring Sir Alec Guinness when we first meet him in ANH wouldn't get the entire theater up with a standing applause?!

Now this could really go anywhere from there but it would be incredible fan service!
If it were me writing the script I'd have Luke also go to Toshi Station to catch a ride with this young kid to where ever they're needed to go, Yavin IV perhaps. And while walking thru Toshi Station Luke stops to purchase something and young Solo asks Luke what he just bought, Luke responds "Something I've been meaning to get for some time"...

Again this is just me speculating on Star Wars episode VII, please share your thoughts....
