Movie Review: Blackhat

This movie has 2 glaring problems, first the movie doesn't know if it wants to be on team Swordfish or team 007. The second problem the star, Chris Hemsworth, doesn't know if he wants to be Thor or Neo.
All in all Blackhat was decently entertaining with it's cyber criminal mystery/drama, I just had a very difficult time believing Hemsworth was a wizard class hacker.
I also found the cinematography distracting certain scenes looked like they were filmed on a camcorder and other scenes with 35mm film.
Nothing against Hemsworth I've seen him in pleny of other roles (besides Thor) that he did fine with....SWatH, Cabin the in Woods, but this was not the right actor for the role. When I think about wizard class hackers my mind conjures up visions of Kevin Smith or DJ Qualls or even Chris's brother Liam rockin' some hipster glasses.
When I finally met the antagonist I was completely underwhelmed...I was expecting a much more memorable criminal...in all fairness that is probably a better representation of a cyber criminal than what we've been force fed by Hollywood.
Highly predictable, hardly memorable.

Street Fighter Old School

The other day I finally got time to sit and watch my Street Fighter Assassins Fist Blu Ray....the Brother No More epilogue is fantastic. Hopefully Joey and Christian drop some news on the World Warriors project soon.

Anyway since I won't have my PS4 till Feb I've been stuck playing PS1 and PS2 games. I found my copy of Capcom Classics Collection 2 and got the urge to play some OLD SCHOOL Street Fighter. No not SFII....I'm talking real old school, Street Fighter I!

For all those who complained about Seth in the SFIV series....I would LOVE to see how you'd RAGE  QUIT over SFI's Adon and Sagat!
So I figured I'd record a few games for posterity.

Obviously hit detection was overlooked in the QC process....
I've found the easiest way to perform the Shoryuken, Hadoken, Tatsumaki Sempuu Kyaku in SF1 is to use the negative edge style.

Gen owned my ass in this run...

Didn't do too hot on this run...

Joe shut me down this time...

Agent Carter: My Impressions

I suffered through the 2 hour premiere of Agent Carter as Peggy struggles with post war life in the big city. I didn't suffer from the show, I enjoyed it! I suffered from an excruciating migraine headache from a broken wisdom tooth as well as a cavity under an old filling.

My wife and I enjoyed the two episodes; Now is Not the End and Bridge and Tunnel watching Peggy cope with Steve's "death", finding a new place to live, dealing with a job at the SSR that is the equivalent to a secretary and being surrounded by male chauvinist's that treat her like one....little do they know...
So Agent Carter meets Howard Stark and agrees to help him by tracking down who stole his formula for molecular Nitramine. But in doing so risks being labeled a traitor to the United States and co conspirator along with Howard Stark.
So Peggy's first Mission: Operation Katamari leads her and Jarvis her new man servant to the Roxxon plant where they track down a member of a secret organization called Leviathan Leet Brannis. The agent without a voice escapes in a milk truck full of Nitamine bombs as he uses one to destroy the Roxxon plant....very exciting stuff.

Episode two Peggy goes deep undercover as a health inspector at the distribution center for the milk truck Leet Brannis used to escape the Roxxon plant in the first episode. That leads them to Miles Van Ert, which leads Peggy and Jarvis to Brannis where they discover he has double crossed Leviathan, the trio are attacked by Sasha Demidov the other voiceless Leviathan agent with a very similar typewriter as seen in Fringe, the IBM Selectric 251!
So Peggy fights Sasha on top of the milk truck which totally had an Indiana Jones vibe to it, the trio are able to defeat Sasha by jumping off/out of the truck just before it goes flying off a cliff and all the Nitramine bombs go KABOOM!
Before dying Brannis draws a heart with a squiggly line through it....ooooh a clue!
So will Agent Carter remain on my DVR? For now yes, it was entertaining I think Hayley Atwell has proven that Agent Carter can be an incredible hero regardless if she doesn't have super powers.

Transformers: Robots in Disguise 2015 official intro

The new Transformers Robots in Disguise series is coming this spring and it appears it will actually continue from where Transformers Prime left off as was reported last year. It also looks ALOT more kid friendly than TF Prime did....which is a double edged sword for me, my son loves Transformers Rescue bots but unfortunately got nightmares from Megatron in Transformers Prime which I thoroughly enjoyed. Check out the official intro to the show below.

Free Swim's 15 movies for 2015

This is the first year I've done a list of "Need to see" Movies. And I found this much more challenging than my Video Game list!

15. Mortdecai

Olivia Munn....nuff said
14.The Walk

JGL has been picking all impressive roles...I think this one's gonna have us all on the edge of our seat. It will be weird seeing the twin towers on the big screen again.
13. Jupiter Ascending

I'm sure the visuals will be impressive but the fact that this got pushed to 2015 for no apparent reason doesn't bode well..
12. The Martian

Ridley Scott, sci fi....should be a no brainer.
11. Chappie

Seems like when Hugh Jackman isn't Wolverine he's playing with robots, I hope this one isn't as heavy handed as Elysium Neil.....loved District 9
10. Tomorrowland
Trailer was impressive and I like how the poster has a pin. If you've been to Disney World recently (I have :)) then you know the fad of pin collecting.

9. Kingsman

Looks fun
8. Jurassic World

I wonder what's going to happen?
7. Krampus

Brad told me about the Krampus last year and BAM now Lions gate is making a movie! This could help alotta of parents with bad children.
6. The Jungle Book
Andy Serkis is doing the mo cap for the animal characters, Scarjo is doing the voice of Kaa and Idris Elba is voicing Sheer Khan....I have a good feeling about this one

5. Ex Machina
Wanna see Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson act together before The Force Awakens?

4. Spectre
Naysayers be damned I like Daniel Craig as Bond and his Bond Films are second only to Sean Connery's
Christopher Waltz as Franz Oberhauser is awesome!

3.Mad Max: Fury Road

Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are gonna be amazing additions to George Millers post apocalyptic world!
2. Avengers: Age of Ultron
This needs no explanation!
1.Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens
It's my #1 but I am gonna try my damnedest to keep my expectations grounded! Fingers crossed....

Free Swim's 15 games for 2015

Here's my annual list of upcoming games that I feel are must have's (for me) in a rough order of most wanted to least. What are your 15 most wanted games for 2015?

1. Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain
This is a favorite franchise of mine, chronologically The Phantom Pain takes place after MGS Peace Walker, which was a great game that unfortunately flew under many gamers radar. I got stuck at the extra ops Gear Rex Strikes back on the deck of Mother Base...my MSF forces were very strong but regrettably I couldn't finish all the extra ops because none of my friends had the game do do the missions in co op. MGS V will continue with the same game play style.
I'm really more excited to see more of the story of Big Boss unfold.

2. No Mans Sky
Ever since I first saw the demo this game resonated with me, the thought of deep space exploration seeking out new life and being the first to set foot on strange new worlds before the millions of other gamers also playing in this ever expanding universe reminds me of my childhood imagination.

3.Batman Arkham Knight
Arkham Asylum was fantastic, Arkham City was even more amazing (according to my friends) and from all this demo's and trailers this game looks HUGE and graphically jaw dropping.

4. Final Fantasy XV
OMG how many years have we been following the ups and downs of this title. I pray FFXV brings back the sense of magic and awe that Square had in the PS1 era. C'mon Squeenix even Capcom realizes what their B&B franchises are!

5.  Street Fighter V
I doubt this one's gonna come out this year but I'll definitely be getting it day 1!
Pass the ramen pls!

6. Uncharted 4: A Theif's End
Shia Lebouf stars alongside Nathan Drake as they unravel the mysteries of the Crystal Skulls.....no? oh sorry wrong franchise and medium.....

7. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt
I haven't played the previous Witcher games but am extremely interested in delving into this world.

8. Rime
The game simply looks beautiful...

9. Mighty # 9
Rest in peace Mega man.......

10. The Witness
Another beautiful game that reminds me of a cross between Myst and Portal

11. Child of Light (2014)
Since my PS3 dies a year ago and I'm getting my PS4 in February I still intend to get this gem.

12. Bloodborne
I need a good scary game to play after my son goes to sleep, and this looks great....and by great I mean horrifying!

13.Final Fantasy type 0 HD
I read some very positive reviews for the Vita version of this game, and it's HD remake will be a welcome addition to my Final Fantasy collection, plus it comes with a FFXV trial!

14. Transistor (2014)
Another PSN game I intend to get once I get my PS4!

15. Ultra Street Fighter IV (PS4)
I didn't buy USFIV for PS3 for two reasons, my PS3 YLOD and I had a feeling Capcom was planning on releasing it on PS4. My patience paid off.
