Rest In Peace Metal Gear

This is Hideo Kojima -->

He worked at Konami
I
I
V

which is now--->

In 1987 Kojima created a game called Metal Gear for MSX2 console....it was pretty good so it was ported to the NES.

Hideo Kojima followed up with a sequel called Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for the MSX2 in 1990.
(I eventually got to play it when MGS3 Subsistence came out in 2006!)

But lets not get ahead of ourselves! 1998 Kojima created Metal Gear Solid while working for KCEJ for the original PlayStation, the game is a commercial success and helps Sony's fledgling game console become the best 5th generation console! Metal Gear Solid was one of the greatest games of that generation IMO.

With the success of Metal Gear Solid for the PS1 it was just a matter of time before Konami and Kojima gave us MGS2, and in November 2001 we discovered Raiden's pastey white ass!
Although not as critically praised as it's predecessor MGS2 expanded the lore of the Metal Gear story.
It would be another three years till the next Metal Gear Solid Game would arrive, and in November 2004 KCEJ and Kojima would deliver Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater, the pinnacle of the franchise in my humble opinion.
The game takes us back to 1960's Cold War where we are introduced to The Boss and the Cobra Unit and Naked Snake who would eventually become the main Protagonist Big Boss from the original 1987 Metal Gear game!
Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater Review

Twenty One years after Kojima introduced us to Solid Snake, Big Boss, Metal Gear and Outer Heaven He gives us the chronological conclusion to the Metal Gear Saga with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of  The Patriots and what an amazing conclusion it was! In typical fashion Kojima's MGS4 leaves us fans with new questions!

With MGS4 the puzzle of the MGS saga was practically complete but there were a few pieces that we fans knew needed to be placed, which brings us to 2010's brilliant Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker for the PSP. Thankfully Konami decided to give this game the HD make over and bring it out on the PS3 the following year!

Wait this collection comes with trophy support for MGS2, MGS3 AND and HD version of MGS Peace Walker?! Yes Please, Thankyou!
MGS:PW is an incredible experience which fills in a piece of the afore-mentioned puzzle! With the creation of the MSF
and Mother-base we can begin to see the hero of MGS3 begin his transformation from the Hero of MGS3 to who we saw in 1987's Metal Gear.
Oh and it's co op!

For my friend Krogenars 40th birthday I decided to share one of video game histories most influential franchises....25 years of sneaking around in a cardboard box...the MGS Legacy Collection!

With the 8th generation of consoles released in 2013 news of the next MGS came and as I suspected it would fill in the last peice of the MGS saga puzzle.....what happens to Big Boss after the events of MGS Peace Walker and 1987's Metal Gear!

Regrettibly I have yet to play MGS V GZ and The Phantom Pain. I was so overly excited for this game, knowing what would need to transpire, but soon after Ground Zero's launched there was rumblings of conflict between Kojima and Konami and as time went on the levy could no longer hold back the flood of negativity that had reached a cresendo between Kojima and Konami. and sadly in 2015, almost 30 years after Hideo Kojima created Metal Gear while working at Konami he left the company and has created a new company, Kojima Productions.
So with Kojima leaving Konami you'd figure that would be the end of the Metal Gear Franchise....well Konami figured differently. and at this years Gamescom Konami proudly revealed the trailer for Metal Gear...Survive......

OMFG WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING!
THAT WAS THE BIGGEST STEAMING PILE OF EXCREMENT I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE GAMING LIFE!!!!
HIDEO KOJIMA'S MASTERPIECE OF GAMING REDUCED TO A COOP SURVIVAL HORROR GAME...EAT A DICK KONAMI!!!

Curious what Hideo Kojima thinks of this travesty??

So in closing, thanks for the amazing experience Hideo Kojima!
I salute you and the Real Metal Gear Saga.

Game Review: Metal Gear Solid:Peace Walker HD

Metal Gear, Metal Gear2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots....I have played all these titles and have put them in chronological order of events I can now add MGS: Peace Walker to my list and add another piece of the history of Big Boss!
MGS Peace Walker takes place 10 years after the events of MGS: Snake Eater, the year is 1974 and Snake has left the Patriots and formed MSF ( Militaires Sans Frontières ) with the help of Kazuhiro Miller.

The game begins on a sandy beach on the coast of Columbia where Kaz introduces Snake to Paz Ortega Andrade and Professor Ramon Galvez Mena who request the assistance of MSF to investigate the emergence of a potential military threat in Costa Rica, Galvez sweetens the deal by offering MSF an abandoned OTEC off shore rig to use as MSF's mother base....

And with this Outer Heaven is born!
MGS: Peace Walker's Story is broken into 5 chapters and a prologue, each chapter has multiple missions (Main Ops) which tell the story of how Snake & MSF battle against Nuclear Mayhem by destroying Peace Walker, an AI controlled quadruped mecha designed by Huey Emmerich and funded by ex CIA director Hot Coldman (yes that's his name).

As you complete missions mother base expands, new MSF members can be "recruited" and new modes become available such as Extra Ops, Outer Ops, Versus Ops (multiplayer).
Extra Ops significantly adds to the longevity of the game with 120 missions that range from Fulton recovery of hostages, classified document retrieval, perfect stealth, paparazzi (photography), armored vehicle battles, tank battles, attack chopper battles....if you are successful in these missions the Vehicle is brought to Mother Base and can be used in Outer Ops...
Outer Ops pits MSF forces against other forces throughout the world, you can create 8 unique 6 member "fire teams" comprised of MSF soldiers, Mechs, and eventually MSF's Metal Gear ZEKE!

Every new member "recruited" into MSF has 5 different skills; Combat, R&D, Cooking, Medical and Intel. You will decide where the new member is best suited in Mother Base depending on the members proficiency. Another factor to take into consideration is the character's GMP (In game currency) As Mother bases GMP increases newer weapons and tech can be developed such as the Soliton Radar, the M60 (AP), upgraded Fulton recovery system, recovery items such as G. Curry and zero calorie soda.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker also has Versus Ops a multiplayer  TPS similar to MGO.
And if you prefer Coop to Multiplayer, MGS: Peace Walker has you covered! Every Main Ops and Extra Ops mission is available to be played single player or Co-Op!

I recently completed Main Ops and for anyone who says they're a fan of the Metal Gear franchise this game is a must have! Not only do you get more Naked Snake/Big Boss back story we also finally meet Hal's father, Master Miller from the original MGS and you create Outer Heaven!!!
MGS: Peace Walker was originally launched for the PSP in 2010, and was re released as part of the MGS HD collection at the end of 2011, the upgrade is nice but the graphics are closer to Snake Eater than Guns of the Patriots, but that didn't bother me in the least. Story and gameplay are what make this game great.
I also enjoyed  the visual approach to the cut scene's, the hand drawn comic style worked extremely well and gave the story the gritty feel it needed to compliment what was going on in the story.
Unlike all previous MGS titles  I've played, Peace Walker's approach to individual missions kinda breaks the flow of the story but it is necessary in order to the Mother Base building aspect of the game which is suprisingly deep considering this game was originally made for the PSP. This is not a game you will "complete" in less than 60hrs and with Versus Ops and co-op available for all Main Ops and Extra Ops this might be one of the biggest MGS titles I've ever played!
I may be in the minority with my next comment but the AI boss battles in PW were more enjoyable than the B&B Corps battles, but both pale in comparison to the Cobra Unit battles.
The Metal Gear saga is fascinating on it's own but with the way Kojima interweaves it into real world history makes it the pinnacle of story telling in the history of video games....in my opinion.

Celebrating 25 years of Metal Gear

With the 25th anniversary celebration of Metal Gear in full swing I revisited MGS4 when the trophy patch released....I'm on my third play through now and just need 5 more trophies to plat. I've taken a break from MGS4 and begun MGS: Peace Walker HD.....I am really enjoying MGS Peace Walker and I'm only at the end of the first chapter! It's so cool seeing the fruition of Outer Heaven! This game was originally released on the PSP back in 2010 and then announced last year that it would be part of the Metal Gear Solid HD collection.
It's interesting how MGS: Peace Walker shares so much in common with  the MGS: Ground Zeroes trailer.
Playing Peace Walker has really sparked my interest in where in the MGS chronology Ground Zeroes will cover...I doubt it'll happen but to see Solid Snake face Big Boss in Outer Heaven would be EPIC!
