I remember waiting in line out side the Software Ect. in Cross County Shopping Center to buy Final Fantasy VII 23 years ago. I used to go there to read the articles in EGM about FFVII leading up to the release. This was the first game I waited on line to buy and the first time I got game swag.
Here we are almost a quarter century later and once again I'm ready to wait on line for this game!
This trailer is the actual opening movie and is absolutely stunning, I'm sure nostalgia is adding to my hype but regardless I guarantee this game will break sales records. I'm not sold on the episodic content approach though. And I'm not sure whether to buy it day one for PS4 or hold off to get it later this year for PS5.

Death Stranding Launch Trailer
I really hope this game is successful, I'm still interested in the game, I will certainly check it out around launch, but I'm afraid many people will pass on this because it's not clear what the story is about. I watched the game play trailer and the first thing that came to mind was "This game looks incredibly detail oriented" and some of the gameplay LOOKED similar the MGSV.
The graphics look outstanding, but this is a Hideo Kojima game, so that should come as no surprise!
I'm not sure I've seen any game that has had this many A-list actors in it, and I know I've never seen a game that has so accurately represented them digitally!

TGS 2019 Death Stranding Trailer and Gameplay Video
Death Stranding is only 58 days away and despite all the gorgeous trailers and deep dives into the rabbit hole I'm starting to wonder if what we see is what we're getting. On face value the game looks like a 21st century hiking simulator.
So graphics are a 10, it looks like some of the MGSV assets were reused when they showed Sam fighting some NPC's, the story still has me scratching my head. The level of detail as great as it is might become tedious for a game that has you traveling across America to "connect" the people.
I have to believe Kojima will not disappoint when it comes to the story, but as of right now all I can say is the game looks spectacular.

Death Stranding....I still have no idea what this game is about! And it's becoming very frustrating!!!!
First off the image I used totally encompasses the deafening WTF roar of the entire gaming community....nice job!
I'm sorry but this trailer doesn't clarify anything, the game is still shrouded in secrecy. The story makes no sense, and the game-play looks extremely similar to a certain Tactical Espionage Action game that relies on stealth. There is a YT channel, The Tomb Portable that had some convincing video's theorizing that Death Stranding might actually be MGS0 but they haven't posted anything recently which could mean 1 of 2 things he's abandoned his theory or Kojima Productoins asked him to STFU because they were right.
I want to support Hideo because of all the BS Konami put him thru but this trailer really doesn't help sell this game to the masses and all the beautiful characters (Lea Seydoux is gorgeous IMO) can't save a game with such a bizarre story and if it's too political it'll be DOA. I have faith in Hideo so I will absolutely give this game a chance.

Way to go pimpin out your golden oldies Konami, but I'm not complaining, I just finished SoTN on CastleVania Requiem and am currently playing thru Rondo of Blood. So yes I will definitely be getting this (wished it came out on physical as well) but what ever 8 games for $19.99 INCLUDING KID DRACULA!
And the timing is right with Bloodstained: Ritual of the night coming

BloodStained Release Date Trailer
A release "window" has appeared! I was starting to wonder i this was going to become vaporware...
I'm the first to say I'd rather wait for a great game then get mediocrity sooner, I pray this game doesn't end up like Mighty #9.....I had such high hopes for that but alas it just wasn't Megaman's successor.....
That little clip at the end gives me hope that Bloodstained will deliver the goods!

Final Fantasy XIV Shadow bringers teaser trailer
Fistly Squeenix has always had gorgeous cinematic trailers, Second I played FFXI for 3+ years and still never saw all of Vana Diel.....I really enjoyed my time in that world, Third FFXIV had a rough start and I was not 100% convinced I wanted to jump back into a MMORPG.
I will admit this trailer is epic and makes me want to go to Eorza but unlike when I played FFXI I have a family now and I don't have the time to invest in FFXIV to truly enjoy the MMO and get the most out of the monthly subscription fee.
Anywho check out this trailer for the Shadowbringer expansion for FFXIV!

Valkyria Chronicals 4 Opening Movie
VC4 is just over 2 months away September 25th, I'm excited to play it! I really enjoyed VC1 and this looks to FINALLY be a return to form. Sega released the opening movie for VC4 the other day, check it out below.
And for those complaining about the graphics, you obviously never played VC1....beauty is sometimes more than the images on the screen.

SFV Weekly Missions and Extra Battle Mode for 2/1/18 - 2/8/18.

It's Friday February 2nd, the 3rd week of SFV AE and this weeks missions went live at 12AM last night! This weeks missions are:
1. Check the rankings via CFN
2. Play a ranked match,
3. Perform a throw 10X
4. Datta's Wish
I'll post a video of the requirements for those new to SFV...
Choose Dhalsim and beat a CPU opponent on the apprentice Alley stage. BAM easy 2.5 K (ggrrrr). Next I went to Extra Battle Mode and the third [Quick and Immovable] fight is now available from 2/1/18 - 2/8/18, remember the entry fee is 2.5k FM! I don't play Rashidooo but I figured since I started collecting the gems I might as well finish.
This weeks XBM fight is against the Rapidly Advancing Shadaloo Grunt DOES NOT reward you with FM! Speaking of, this week brings us our second encounter with a Shadaloo Grunt! This XBM will cost 500 FM and beating him will earn you 10k EXP for the character you use, net is really 28,500 EXP taking the entry fee into account. And you can fight him 3 times which will net ya 30K EXP!
So between the weeklies and the XBM you won't earn much FM this week but that 28.5k EXP helped push my Karin over the hump to level 45. Last week Capcom gave us a heads up on 3 new up coming Cross Over Costumes for Ken, R Mika and Ibuki. I might be inclined to get the Kirin costume for Ibuki as I do play her on occasion. The schedules overlap so be careful you're fighting the correct XBM for the correct armor peice! If you're Scrooge McDuck and have a coffer full of FM the all 3 Monster Hunter Cross over Costumes will set you back 30k FM!

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Opening Cinematic
I have played almost every FF title except FFXIII-2, Lightning Returns FFXIII, FFXIV, FF Type 0, World of FF and the FFVII spin offs. So I'm a bit of a fan of the franchise, I'm also an avid fighting game fan...mostly SF.
So this seems like a match made in heaven for me, so I'm not sure why I'm not really feeling this game.
I think perhaps it's because I'm fighting game purist, what I mean is I prefer 1 on 1 simplicity over team battles like 3 on 3 with multiple classes and a multiple bars to manage...I know I'm getting old.
Anywho the opening cinematic is cool. Kefka looks crazier than ever, I'm glad we didn't get brow beat with Sepheroth/Cloud face off's in the intro.
Dissidia FF NT releases worldwide on the PS4 January 30th 2018!

Secret of Mana PS4 remaster
This was my first JRPG I ever played and the thing that grabbed my attention was a full page ad in EGM. The art in that ad was stunning for a 16 bit video game, so when I got the chance I played it and it was beautiful, and then I discovered I could play this game coop! I never did get a chance to finish the game as I had borrowed it from a friend.
I was completely blind sided by this announcement this morning that a remastered version of The Secret of Mana will be coming February 15th 2018!
More details on the Square Enix site: secret of mana game.com
The game will be avail to buy digitally on the PS Store or physical copy exclusively at Gamestop in limited quantity. I would prefer the physical copy personally....I'm old School.

Windjammers Launch Trailer is solid gold!
I've been a gamer since the Atari 2600 days I've seen the spectrum of video game commercials and trailers and this one is so keenly aware of awfulness it has risen to greatness! I don't quite understand how this game was in contention to be at EVO this year but this 23 year old Neo Geo game totaly reminds me of Super Dodge Ball for the NES!
There needs to be a Video Game trailer/Commercial awards show and this needs to win!

Retro Game Review: Child of Light
This game is simply gorgeous from the visual aesthetic of a water color painting to the haunting sound track to the story of Aurora and her quest to save her father from death.
This gem from Ubi Soft Montreal studio in is a perfect example how how small and simple doesn't always equate to a less impressive experience, sometimes less is more!
There is beauty throughout this game from the art design to the dialog between Aurora and the NPC's and party members to the games story!
The battle system is very reminisent to old school Final Fantasy games, when Aurora comes in contact with an enemy mob the screen goes to a battle screen where the enemy's (up to 3) show up on the right side and the party members on the left. There is a ATB system with a single bar with avatars representing all characters in the battle. Each character's avatar moves at different speeds till it reaches the "casting point" once the avatar reaches that point the speed slows down till it reaches the end of the ATB bar, then the character performs an action, if the attack hits the recipients turn could be interrupted sending the player or enemy back to the beginning of the ATB bar. So the player isn't just passivly waiting for their turn there's some strategy involved in which characters you keep in battle. You can swap out any character during battles once the character reaches the "casting" point on the ATB bar, which will save your ass during some particularly difficult battles.
The level up system is also very simplistic but has adequate depth to allow the player to feel like they have control over the characters progression, you earn skill points during battles and can use the points on the characters skill tree to upgrade MP, HP, offensive and/or defensive abilities and spells. Each character has their own individual skill tree with character specific skills so building a well rounded party or a highly offensive party is up to the player how they prefer to tackle the battles.

The characters in Child of Light are all unique and varied enough to stand on there own,
Finn is a Capili (dwarf) who is the equivalent to FF's Black Mage
Genovefa is a Piscean who would be the equivalent to FF Tactics Time Mage
Igniculus is a floating orb of light that can assist Aurora by healing with his light and blinding enemies which stops them in their tracks. I'd say Iggy would be the equivalent to FF's Carbuncle.
Norah is Aurora's step sister and she reveals herself to also be NOX her skills also make her equivalent to a Time Mage
Oengus is a Kategida warrior and is pretty much a tank so we'll say he's the Knight in CoL
Robert is a Bolmus (mouse) his primary weapon is a Bow and Arrow that can inflict status ailments on enemies he's like a Archer from FF Tactics
Rubella is a Aerostati that specializes in healing....we all know what she would be in the FF realm
Tristis is Rubella's brother and he casts support spells on the party.....red mage.
CoL was a gorgeous game in so many aspects, I enjoyed the simplicity of it which brought me back to a time when RPG's ruled consoles.
If you enjoyed JRPG's back in the day you'll truly appreciate Child of Light.

Child of Light also has a crafting element with gems called Oculi, you can think of them like the materia system from FFVII they are gemstones that can be attached 1 per item (weapon, armor, accessory) to enhance it's attributes such as adding elemental damage to attacks or enhance chance of evasion or increase max HP/ MP,
There are 3 tiers of Oculi;
Base Oculi: Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald
Crafted Oculi: Tourmaline, Amethyst, Citrine
Advanced Crafted Oculi: Diamond, Onyx, Spinel

Street Fighter V Season 2 Second DLC Character Reveal Trailer: Kolin
I like the Lupe Fiasco song they have with the trailer, someone needs to remix Kolin's trailer with Vanilla Ice's song....yeah he only had one.
Anyway it seems as if Kolin has lost her baby face from the season 1 cinematic story, but thankfully they didn't ruin her face, in fact the more mature face is more suited for her.
So Kolin's martial arts style is systema with the element of ice. I hope Kolin get her own stage like what her trailer opens with.I'm not sure if this is a case of good video editing or not but at mark 1:03 it looks like Kolin might have a variant of Cammy's Ultra II CQC from Street Fighter IV.
Kolin V trigger, "Diamond Dust" is intriguing in that it also freezes the stun gauge and if you do stun the character with it the opponent get frozen in place on the ground!
Kolin will be available February 28th along with her Story/Battle/ Nostalgia costumes.
I guess the Underground Arena will be Kolin's official Stage so does that male Ring of Destiny Geif and Mika's stage?

Street Fighter V Akuma Reveal Trailer.....THUNDER THUNDER...THUNDERCATS HOOOOOO!
Crash Bandicoot N'sane Trilogy...COOL!
Nier: Automata looked interesting
Ys Origin...I've always wanted to get into the Ys series, this trailer reminds me of an old JRPG near and dear to my heart, Lunar Silver Star Story Complete.
Dreadnought....Giant Spaceships with crazy fire power....I loved this game on the Atari 5200!
Vane: I like the visual style of this game
The Last of Us 2.....WHHHHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!????? I didn't see a reason for a sequel but after seeing that trailer OKAY!

Parappa the Rapper 20th anniversary! I laughed my ass off with Krogenar back in the day playing this game
Windjammers: REtro never looked so good! This trailer made me remember an old NES game I loved to play SUPER Dodgeball! Who remembers that game?!
And there's also some other AAA titles coming in 2017 that I'm super hyped for that weren't showcased at the PSX presentation.

Game Review: Transformers Devastation
I grew up watching the G1 series and this game is 100% pure Nostalgia! The whole aesthetic of Devastation is like you're playing a G1 movie!
The primary reason I got Transformers Devastation was the visual style.
The game feels like it's ripped from a script from Transformers Prime but designed around the G1 series. Megs plans on cyberforming Earth using the recently discovered Proud Star ship under Manhattan! OK Good Enough for me.
This game is truly a love letter to my generation, the best way I can describe it is short and sweet with lots of button mashing. That's not to say there isn't some options to mix up the rock em sock em robots action. Players can develop TECH modifiers, Synthesize weapons, purchase special moves like Parry, Rush and Reversal.
The game is relatively short if you just gonna play the story thru one time, but there are incentives to hunting down the collectibles, and playing thru multiple times with the different Autobots. There is a couple galleries, Art, Model and Generations for completionists also.
I've beaten the game with Grimlock and just unlocked The King trophy, next up I'll play thru with Prime, then Wheel Jack, then Sideswipe then Bumblebee.....so you can see how the game can become very repetitive for trophy hunters.
Aside for the brevity of the game I enjoyed the nostalgia trip, Platinum games nailed the details of the G1 characters and bustin Decepti-chops with Grimlock brought me back to my childhood playing with my Transformers!
I'm gonna let my 6 y/o son play, he loves the 80's Transformers animated movie (not the crappy Bayformers) so I think he will enjoy this.
If you see Transformers Devastation for sale, I recommend grabbing it for </= $30.
6.5/10

TGS2016 Final Fantasy XV Trailer

I've waited like 15 years for this game what's another 72 days?
So here's the latest trailer for Final Fantasy XV, I love the FF franchise but after FFXIII, and all the sequels to the Fabula Nova Crystallis the Final Fantasy name lost a little luster for me. But it's been a few years so I'm looking forward to this chapter in the series.
