My 7th Gen Recap

For me the seventh generation began February 2008, when I finally got an 80gig BC (via emulation) PS3. It came with Motorstorm ....not exactly a system seller but it filled the void for a while. The PS3's momentum began at a crawl but continued to progress steadily through this generation to where we are at now....going into the 8th generation with focus, determination and alot of positive momentum!

Video Game Timeline
I've been playing video games since Gen 1 and I'm fairly certain that I've played more games in the last 5 years on my PS3 than I have on any other console from previous generations! So I'm going to attempt a quick and dirty recap of all the games I've played this generation.

Linger in the Shadows: I don't know what possessed me to buy this but it certainly was a unique "game" experience...

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition
Disgaea 3
CastleVania: Lords of Shadow
Pacman Championship Edition
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Final Fantasy XIII
Super Stardust HD: Freebee from PSN hacking...fun game great audio
Transformers: War for Cybertron:
Mass Effect - I bought this on the PS Store, yet to play it, just scratched the surface
Mass Effect 3-
Killzone 2
Sly Cooper HD 1: \
Sly Cooper HD 2:- These three games were great fun, the characters were hilarious and extremely well developed. The level design became more and more elaborate
Sly Cooper HD 3:/
Resistance 2
Hyperdimension Neptunia
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare2
Call of Duty Black Ops
Little Big Planet: Freebee from PSN hacking barely touched...got it for my wife...I thought she might enjoy it....I was wrong

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD: This is the review for the PS2 Subsistence version...same score applies.

LA Noire: Haven't played enough to give a legit review...I will say, based on the time I've spent on this game I'm a terrible detective!
SSX - I really had high hopes for this game...it wasn't bad but it fell waaaay below my expectations
Bioshock Infinite: I started this but then The Last of Us launched and well haven't gotten back
Skyrim: I got this game from a guy at work, I escaped the execution and navigated the dungeon to the wilderness....that's as far as I've played....not enough time spent to give a legit review.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch: I got this February 2013 and have a few hours spent but not enough to give a legit review. The little I have played so far is gorgeous and very touching.
The Last of Us
Grand Theft Auto IV
Grand Theft Auto V
Mirror's Edge
inFAMOUS

Wii Sports
Super Mario Bros. Wii
Cooking Mama
Mario Kart Wii
Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

MESSATSU!

Merry Christmas from Free Swim

Hey kids hope you have a Merry Christmas...if you don't get EVERYTHING you wanted, try and understand....Santa is a blue collar guy, he's been doing Christmas for a long time and these last couple years the economy has sucked pretty hard. Alotta elves are on the dol (ask your parents) and 2 is the new 5 in the workforce so poor Rudolf is pulling the slack for Dasher, Dancer Vixen and Blitzen.
Santa knows you've been a good boy but the 1% don't care how good you are, no Christmas miracle is gonna help stop their greed!
So if you didn't get your Red Rider BB gun this year, be merry for the stuff we too often take for granted, your family, a roof over your head a warm bed to dream about sugar plumes  in, and all that good food your probably shoving in your face.
You know the best Christmas gift you can give your folks this year? A simple "Thank you".
Now if you'll excuse me I need to get back to reading the owners manual for my new Bugatti Vitesse!

USFIV second trailer thoughts and feelings

So Yoshinori Ono revealed the second trailer for USFIV during the Capcom Cup last week and put the kabash on some of the rumors revolving around the mystery 5th character.
Since this charade began I initially thought it was Asura, after that was disconfirmed, I dug deep based on the clues Ono dropped after that and guessed Kevin (Ken) Straker from Street Fighter 2010. Recently many people (on Capcom Unity) were saying Retsu, even I began to think he had a chance based on the fact they're porting over a few of the SFXT stages and the Mishima estate stage looks ALOT like Retsu's SF1 stage!

But alas Ono has disconfirmed Retsu....so back into the mists of obscurity for you my friend, And in fact all male characters can sit down...Ono's latest hint is the character is female and now the most popular opinion is the 5th character is a Shadaloo doll,

Or Decapre

Taking into consideration the limited budget this title upgrade has, this makes the most sense to me, use Cammy's character model. Personally I prefer Jianyu over Decapre but Decapre would be easier to build just add Vega's claw and a mask......

Now onto the trailer....Red Focus costs a full meter! 4 EX moves or 1 Super....pretty steep price to absorb a bunch of hits....basically only use red focus against ultras /supers and counter with your Ultra....but watch out for the Double Ultra counter to your Red Focus/Ultra counter!
Elimination/ Team Battle: I think this is just an upgrade from what we already have, the new aspect is 1V1 with 3 characters each or 3v3 with 1 character each.
Online Training Mode: Meh I call that endless 1v1 private room...
Basically the trailer left me very underwhelmed..hype level low.

Street Fighter Assassins Fist

I know that stance! What I don't know is who this guy is. He obviously is a practitioner of Ansatsuken....

Interstellar Teaser Trailer

The Sci Fi genre seems to be making a resurgence as of late Gravity, Europa Report, Elysium, to name a few of the better ones.....sorry Tom Oblivion wasn't that great.
I have a good feeling about Interstellar not only because it's from Christopher Nolan but because the story sounds inspiring and is serious sci fi like Gattaca...sci fi that's potentially right off on the horizon, not about hokey religions and ancient weapons.... ;)

Street Fighter Assassins Fist

This is a spectacular scene! This is the scene where Ken Masters is introduced to Ryu and an unbreakable bond is formed!
This scene has so much heart if you're familiar with the franchise! I cannot wait to see this series!!
For a billionaire I gotta question Mr. Masters taste in automobiles....

Jupiter Ascending Trailer

Jupiter Jones you have the DNA and chi flow of a galactic queen....but for now you best get back to unclogging my toilet bitch!
I think Mila Kunis is very talented and knows how to pick the right films, Channing Tatum has potential, and Sean Bean well he was Boromir and 008 in Golden Eye so he can be in what ever he wants.
This movie looks like an amalgamation of Mass Effect, The 5th Element, Blade Runner and the Hunger games...I am reserving judgement but whenever I see a trailer that says "From the Producer/Director of ____" I get nervous. Visually it looks cool but I think it also looks too epic to fit in just one film.

Godzilla 2014 Official Teaser Trailer!!!!

YES! YES! YES!
I'm actually burnt out on Superhero movies and Pacific Rim never really grabbed my interest and Cloverfield, the little I saw was like the Blair Witch project of movie monsters.
Come May 16th 2014 the King returns and reminds us why he's the King of all Monsters!

Movie Review: Gravity

Gravity is the most visually stunning action movie I've seen in a very long time!
Wait, did I just say action movie!?
Yes, yes I did. Just because Gravity takes place in Space it has more in common with The Poseidon Adventure than it does with 2001 A Space Odyssey or Aliens. If Gravity came out in the 30's, 40's or 50's it would definitely fall in the Sci-fi genre but today in the year 2013 there's nothing fictitious in Gravity except perhaps Sandra Bullock pulling a Wall E!
Speaking of Sandra, when I saw the first trailer for Gravity I was wowed but then I saw Clooney and Bullock and was perplexed, this is not the type of movie I would ever expect to see her name attached to. Sandra surprised me in Crash and again in Gravity, she convinced me that she was a Nasa engineer who found a reason to survive a disaster of biblical proportions. I really enjoyed her metamorphosis from the queezy engineer fixing a com relay at the beginning of the film to a Human being hell bent on living and getting back to Earth....I won't make the obvious comparison.
Clooney did a solid job (as usual) as Lt. Kowalski, a veteran Astronaut on his final mission prior to retiring, who's got a story for every situation....except the one that happens.
And that's it! This movie has two (2) actors total for the majority of the 90 minuets, and actually it's pretty much Sandra Bullock alone throughout the film, and she holds it down like a boss.
Aside from Clooney and Bullock the biggest star in this movie is the special effects, from the destruction of the shuttle in the vastness of space to the claustrophobic scenes inside the ISS, as well as the scene where she tries to free the Soyuz from the ISS, oh my god the special effects in Gravity totally had me on the edge of my seat yelling at the screen!
You are not going to fully appreciate this movie unless you see it  in IMAX 3D! I'm no advocate of 3D but this movie trully lends itself to be seen in that format!

Street Fighter Assassins Fist

Gouken meditating within the dojo, oh who's that a picture of behind him on the wall??? I can almost picture the camera pan out from an extreme close up, as Gouken meditates he hears voices from the past and then one voice distant at first becomes louder and louder till all the rest are muffled and that voice is Gouki's...

More USFIV Loc Test vids

Here are some fresh matches from the USFIV location tests! Also I've got a good screen shot of the character select screen.....I guess the mystery 5th character will go to the left of Ryu???

The Walking Dead S4E8 Too far gone recap

This was a TOUGH episode to watch!
It felt a little premature, the whole story of the governor taking control of Martinez' group felt very rushed...one minute he's an outsider in this group, next he's rallying this small group to arms against people they don't know by a guy they barely know.
I can't imagine how shit is gonna get worse than it is at this point but apparently it will!
Some characters are harder to say goodbye to and my wife actually got off our asses during the "conversation" between Rick and The Governor, I was literally pleading to the TV not to kill the person the governor had at the edge of Michonne's blade. Seeing that character die the way he did hurt....I hate seeing old people get hurt!
Once shit got real, it got really real! Alot of red shirts died...Rick takes one in the leg and then fights ol' cyclops and gets beat within an inch of his life, Bobby takes one in the shoulder, and as the Governors troops begin gaining ground Ricks group begins to scatter, but not before Daryl mutha fuckin Dixon blows up a tank by throwing a grenade down the barrel, uses a Walker as an undead riot shield, and sticks a bolt in MItch (never liked that dude)!!! Way to go King of the Whiskey Tango's!!!!
Tyresse is saved by little Lizzie, I bet he's glad she never missed Story time with Carol!!!
The sick are put on the bus, and who da fuq was that black lady on the bus??? Never seen her before!
Maggie and Beth escape but do they have ass kicker??? That is left ambiguous....I don't think Judith survived but AMC  skirted the controversy by only showing just a bloody baby carrier....
Honestly I need to watch the episode again to see who's stuck with who...but at this point I think Carol's gonna make it to season 5!

See you Feb 5th!

Happy 40th birthday Krogenar!!

I don't think there are many people who can say they're best friend is a person they met in the third grade! I can, and today we're celebrating you're 40th birthday dude!
My best friend and I have a looooong history of playing games from the original SMB on the NES to playing Zanac and Golgo 13 to the wee hours of the night in the Poconos to the countless quarters in the arcade playing Street Fighter II, to the hours spent in your parents den playing SFII on the SNES. I remember our Super Mario Kart battles, you showing me doom on your PC and trying your damnedest to get me hyped about MUD's....that was as exciting to me as Zork. I remember saying something like can I get some video in my video games...
The gaming memories continued into the  the mid nineties with the PS1....hours of Twisted Metal 2 death matches in Paris LMAO GRIMMM!!!!Parapa the Rapper, CTR, SFA1,2,3
FFXI on the PS2, CVS2, SSX3 online....while it lasted, Twisted Metal: Black, Socom 1,2,3
Modern Warfare 1 & 2 on PS3, Street Fighter IV...
So as any respectable gaming guru would do I got you a legacy of gaming history, it spans 25 years of gaming from the NES to the PS3! 1 collection, 2 graphic novels, 8 games, a 100 page booklet of awsome!
I give you....

YEAH!!!!
