District 9 Trailer

A must see for this summer.

Gamer Trailer

THIS IS FPS!
Gerard Butler is gonna teabag your ass in Slayers.
Kable (Butler) is the latest "running Man" in this massively popular "online" FPS where deathrow inmates get a chance to be pardoned if they survive in Slayers. Originally titled Citizen Game, Gamer hits the sliver screen 9/4/09. With Lionsgate producing it and it's R rating fans of Infinity Wards Modern Warfare, Bungies Halo, and all the other FPS's will probably flock to see this!
As far as games to film goes this looks like it will work because it's not based directly on a specific franchise.

Pray Tay Nama...Is Not Our Destination!

What's old is new again....again.
Looks like ABC is going ahead with this remake of the original mini series. I know I'm dating myself here but I really enjoyed the original mini-series and to a lesser degree the TV series. This updated series could be fantastic if done right....basically don't change much. Add in a cameo from Jane Badler and you're good to go.

Original Queen Bitch of the Universe - Jane Badler

New Queen Bitch of the Universe - Morena Baccarin

Terminator Salvation Review

There is no fate but what we make.....
The fourth installment in the Terminator Saga, is the story of Marcus Wright and his...Salvation. The movie begins in 2003 with Marcus on death row for murdering his brother and a cop. Wright signs a waiver donating his body to "medical research"
Fast Forward to 2018 Judgement day has finally come and gone and the human race is scattered around the world in small pockets of resistance, John Connor is struggling to find his place in this new world order. Meanwhile a young Kyle Reese holds down the Los Angeles resistance HQ.
After T3 I went into TS with very low expectations and when the movie ended I'm glad I did. Terminator Salvation isn't a bad movie, it has some incredible special effects and some decent performances from some of the cast. Most notably Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright, the character's story is well developed and Worthington does a fantastic job of portraying a man lost trying to find himself. I trully appriciated the subtlties Worthington brought to the character such as a sideways glance at the name Connor, the quick snatch of a shotgun or the ability to repair a dilapidated Jeep. Regrettibly I had already spoiled myself and knew Marcus's fate but I think Worthington did a great job not making it obvious and when the "big twist" is revealed does evoke the proper amount of shock which the audience should share.
Another impressive performance was from Anton Yelchin, he plays a young Kyle Reese, and in my opinion does a great job building on the character made famous by Michael Biehn. The scenes where Reese helps Marcus escape from the T-600 was great and showed a young capable soldier looking to earn the respect of other resistance fighters, it made it easy to see the connection between Yelchin's Reese and Biehn's. It was also kinda cool hearing the famous line "what's today's date? The Year?" being asked to Reese....fanservice that works to build the story is fine by me but fansservice for fanservice sake I find is pointless and dumbs down the story. Regrettibly TS has way too much useless fanservice.
Another thing TS had too much of is pointless characters. First, Dr. Serena Kogan, no offense to Helena Bonham Carter but I would have laughed my ass off if Dr. Silberman showed up instead!
Other characters that were totally useless were Barnes, he's pretty much Connors' yes man. And for God's sake how can Michael Ironside be in Terminator Salvation, and have a character named Richter and NOT give it to Ironside....Come on!!!
I think McG dropped the ball on the Blair Williams character, Moon Bloodgood was a good choice but I felt like the character ended up as a plot when she could've been more of a Sarah Connor/ Ellen Ripley character. I would've paired Blair up with Reese and dropped Jadagrace's character Star. And that would've saved us all from the cringe worthy moment at the end.
Now on to the star of the show, the last best hope of mankind....John Connor! I couldn't believe Christian Bale had signed on to this project when I first heard the rumor, but when it was confirmed my doubt-a-tron 5000 lowered it's rating from FAIL to POSSIBLY MAYBE.
Surprisingly I wasn't blown away by Bale's performance, he was good but Bale's Connor was very cut & dry, I would've liked to see more of the anti authority aspects of his personality shine thru. There were a few WTF moments, like the drop off in the ocean, and the ol' trip a terminator cycle with a rope trick O.o. Hopefully Bale can make Connor more appealing in the next chapter so the audience actually cares if he lives
I was very impressed with the apocalyptic landscapes and the over exposed metallic look of the film. It definately added to the dire atmosphere and situation humanity has found itself in. I would've liked to see more T-600's throughout the movie, perhaps working in squad formations instead of solo units roaming around aimlessly. After seeing all the production art I thought the T-600 would've appeared larger than it did in the film.
I really enjoyed the chase scene with Wright, Reese and the terminator cycles. The Harvester was visually impressive and the sound effects for the Harvester were great....very ominous! But I gotta ask, how the hell did NOONE see it sneaking up on the gas station!?
The HK's once again have been slightly redesigned, it was cool to see the aerial dog flights between the A10 Thunderblots and the HK's old school Vs high tech.
TS moves a blazing pace with few chances for character development, the action scenes are well done for the most part but there are some parts that pull you out of the moment such as when Marcus falls off a transport ship and skids across a river like a stone, or when Marcus get's a "jumpstart" with two indrustrial size power cables or having a rather large pole tear thru John Connor's chest...that may have almost stopped Ahnold in T2 but it definately would've put the Kabosh in Connors career. Speaking of that, I'm willing to bet a 12pack of hydrogen fuel cells that's where the rewrite took place!
And since I brought up Ahnold I am pleased to say his cameo in Terminator Salvation is awesome! I was expecting just a breif shot of his face on the T-800 assembly line but we get much more!
The set for the final battle in the Skynet base felt a little to similar to the final set in T2 for my liking, but it could've been worse.
And I have to agree with my friends that the ending is pretty weak because thruout the movie everyone saying that the main offensive was against Skynet HQ and that if sucessful the war would be over....well Connor blows the whole joint to kingdom come and then we get some lame ass monologue reusing his moms line about a storm coming and that we won the battle but the war rages on. LAME!! That's just poor storytelling in my opinion, they should've made it clear this was only ONE of many Skynet bases and that the "core" is still undiscovered or something to that effect.
Here's my quick and dirty breakdown:
Christian Bale / John Connor = Nothing Special
Sam Worthington / Marcus Wright = Great
Anton Yelchin / Kyle Resse = Very Good
Moon Bloodgood = Underused
Bryce Dallas Howard = Underused
Arnold Shwarzeneggar = Awesome!
Originality = ZERO
Too many useless characters
Soundtrack = Weak
Special Effects = Impressive
Ranking within Saga:
T2
T1
T4
T3
Final thoughts:
It was a good sci fi summer flick, and opens up the opportunity to continue the saga. I wish Bale had done more with the saga's main protagonist. The ending was weak and had no emotional connection with the audience unlike T2. Sam Worthington is clearly the star of this movie and does a very good job with the character.

PlayStation Home Update

1.21 is live today. The most notable difference is the text chat screen has changed. We can now L3 click it so it doesn't show. Also the color we chose for our Pop Up Window selection is not the color of our text in the chat window. Another handy feature is you can scroll the chat window and highlight a users post. You can then bring up their profile and ignore, block, add friend etc etc all from the chat window. There is also a new Sony space called the Presentation Podium... this space kinda looks like a theme park, except without rides. It's still coolbeans as is. It has a pretty neat design. There are some new Sony Generic clothes in Threads, .49 cents a piece. Also Street Fighter 4's selection has updated with several new female costumes, including Cammy's and Rose's outfits, .99 cents per piece.Let's see what else ... [mock forgetfulness] ... Oh yeah! Resistance has launched into Home. The space is pretty neat and has one of the best mini-games in all of Home. It's a turret shooter mini-game and rewards you with clothing items for getting to certain levels/high scores. The space also has a leaderboard so it's fun to compete with your friends or the whole community. Already there are some CRAZY scores in there and it just went live. The top score is over 800k points. My top score is a measly, in comparison, 56133 points. I keep dying on Wave 5.Also today the EA Sports Complex got an update. The Poker space is redone and the betting blinds readjusted. New rewards are in place for winners and also we now have winnable chips that we "bank". The chips are banked automatically when you win and you must have AT LEAST 1000 chips to compete on the RED table. Overall the space is a marked improvement over it's first issue.

Fringe Season Finale

I have to say that was one of the BEST season finale's I've ever seen! I was 99% sure who's name was on the tombstone, my wife was like HOW THE HELL did you know that! and when Olivia was in the elevator I knew once it past the 14th floor on the way down something was gonna happen.

Personally I LOVED the ending, but I'm afraid some people may be offened by it. This episode sealed the deal IMO. Fantastic season ender! Not to mention we finally meet William Bell!

If you haven't seen Fringe, yet I highly recomend it!

Capcom <3's PSN

<3's

After last weeks MVC2 announcement now we get word that Capcom is gonna be dropping between 20 and 40 tiltles on the PSN! I guess patience is a virtue!
We'll definitely be looking at a lot of titles that have things like Street Fighter and Resident Evil in the title. We're thinking about putting together a long list of the titles we're looking at, and then releasing it on Capcom Unity and having people vote on them. Ultimately we're looking at bringing between 20 and 40 titles to the PSN over the next several months."

Playstation Home Update

Locust_Star, Official Home Community Specialist:Greetings, Home-people. Locust_Star here dropping in to give you the straight truth on what new goodies to expect in PlayStation Home this week. Simply put, this is one of the biggest content updates in the history of Home and we think you're going to dig what we have in store for you.By popular demand, we have brought the Siren: Blood Curse space over from Japan (this space will appear in the European region at a later date). The basic overview is this: The Siren Home space is broken up into three basic zones. When you first enter the Siren space, you're outside the Ward of Despair, in what looks like an old, rundown carnival space. The entrance to the Ward is just a few steps away. Upon entering it, you'll find yourself in the mini-game's lobby. Inside you'll see video screens on the walls and places to sit and mingle with other players waiting their turn to enter the Ward of Despair mini game. When you're ready to play, simply approach the receptionist and she'll send you into the Ward (assuming that the background downloading is complete, which begins upon entry to the lobby scene and can take a few moments). The Ward of Despair is the Saiga Hospital stage from this PSN downloadable game, recreated as a mini-game for Home, and playable with up to 5 players. Everyone is tasked with objectives that must be completed within the 5 minute time limit. If a Shibito, or zombie, catches you, it's game over. Also, if you can't complete the game before the time limit runs out, it's game over for everyone. Successful completion of all objectives presents the player(s) with reward items in the form of some super creepy costumes.Take time over the weekend to visit this space and earn these reward items, as we'll be throwing a special event for those of you that manage to successfully complete the Ward of Despair mini-game. See, on Tuesday, May 12th, between the hours of 4:00pm and 7:00pm PT (6:00pm and 9:00am EST), we€™ll be throwing the Siren: HorrorBowl bowling tournament. Users that show up for this bowling tournament outfitted with the Siren reward items will qualify for a random giveaway of the first Siren: Blood Curse bundle (episodes 1-4), which we'll be passing out via PSN vouchers throughout the event. In coordination with this space launch and event, the PlayStation Store will be offering a special sale on the full game and the episode bundles. The full game is now only $29.99, and each of the 3 episode bundles is only $10.99. So now's the time to head over to the store and pick up the game if you haven't already, or to snatch up those last remaining episodes to complete your collection. There's even a demo available on the PS Store, so you can try it out before you buy it.By now, you're probably well aware of the Patapon 2 event/t-shirt launch also going on in Home on Thursday, May 7th. But I'm here to tell you that we have even more in terms of exclusive vids playing in-world for you this weekend. The fine folk behind the hilarious upcoming PSN multiplayer game Fat Princess have given us an exclusive behind-the-scenes developer diary video, delving into the inspiration behind this comic medieval battle royale, to air for one week in the Theater. This video will only be up for a limited time one week only before it makes its way to the PS Store later this month. So make sure you log in to Home and head over to the Theater to check it out before anyone else.Moving away from this week's events and into the realm of apartments, we are pleased to announce two new premium areas coming your way this Thursday. These two apartments are a new Log Cabin-themed area and the Living Room Stage Set.The Living Room Stage Set will go on sale in the PlayStation Home Mall and will be loaded with interactive lights, cameras, backdrops and movie-related equipment to simulate a real-life studio production environment. The versatile lighting and camera systems allow for a wide range of desired angles, movements, transitions, cuts and lens set-ups that allow you to take control of the technical and artistic aspects. Combined with 12 props that come with the space to decorate the set, you'll have access to the tools necessary to create your own film when hooked up to a video capture system. Priced at $4.99, the Living Room Stage Set will be available at the Estates store in PlayStation Home Mall for your directorial debut. On top of all this, we have a metric boatload of virtual items coming down the pike including Tekken costumes and figurines and 14 Killzone 2 shirts (plus a bunch of other gear in the Threads store). We also think you'll pleased to find that the inFAMOUS pre-order and reward outfits will begin unlocking right on time. There's more stuff to do in Home than ever before, so come on in and give it all a spin. We'll be looking for you.

Pandorum

I'm not the biggest fan of Dennis Quiad...or maybe it was The Day After Tommorow movie I disliked....regardless this movie looks very promising, I'm definately digging the dark moody atmosphere, kinda like a cross between Alien, Event Horizon and Sunshine.

"Two astronauts awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a seemingly abandoned
spacecraft. It’s pitch black, they are disoriented, and the only sound is
a low rumble and creak from the belly of the ship. They can’t remember
anything: Who are they? What is their mission? With Lt. Payton
(Quaid) staying behind to guide him via radio transmitter, Cpl. Bower ventures
deep into the ship and begins to uncover a terrifying reality. Slowly the
spacecraft’s shocking, deadly secrets are revealed…and the astronauts find their
own survival is more important than they could ever have imagined."
