Free Swim's 13 for 2013

This is gonna be a great year to be an owner of a PS3! 4 of my 13 titles are Playstation Exclusives! Two of my choices were left overs from my 2012 wishlist.
#1
My number one choice is probably not gonna come out this year anyways but after playing MGS Peace Walker HD last year I'm craving to see the inception of the Les Enfants Terribles Project and the birth of Solid Snake!
For any fan of the Metal Gear Saga this is a must have!

#2
Naughty Dog's The Last of Us looks simply amazing and totally truthful about how humans will loose their  humaity if some sort of apolalytic viral strain turns us into monsters....notice I avoided saying zombies, yes they are the monster D'jour these days but I can't confirm we are dealing with zombies in the last of us yet...

#3
I bought a ticket for the GTAIV hype train....it was a short ride. I really despised the main Character Nico Belic and his annoying as fuck cousin, the MP was fun but at the time it didn't compare to CoD MW's MP system.
After playing RDR & LA Noir I feel confident that GTA V will be a much more enjoyable game both SP & MP....fingers crossed.
#7 last year....#3 this year! Look at what a good trailer can do for your game! Oh dam the hype train is leaving the station I gotta run TTFN!

#4
I've always been a sucker for games with a fresh art design (Valkyria Chronicals/Chrono Cross), Ni No Kuni looks gorgeous and with visuals by Studio Gibli this PS exclusive looks like it will not only floor us with amazing visuals but a very endearing story also.
Maybe Squeenix should play Ni No Kuni and remember what made them an amazing game company.....

#5
I opted out of the CoD FPS craze after MW2, but Aliens Colonial Marines looks to drag me back. I've already got this on preorder and will be wearing my P1nk4cidB00t5 Feb 12th!
The last Aliens FPS I played was Akklaim's  Alien Trilogy on the PSX

#6
Last year Lara was at #8 now that I've seen a bit more of the game Tomb Raider gets bumped up to the 6 spot. Interestingly I did predict some aspects of the game long before they were revealed....weapon crafting/leveling up.
And it's just revealed the game will have MP....UGHH!
NOT EVERY FRANCHISE NEEDS MULTIPLAYER!!!
You hear me Kratos?

#7
Ahh the eternal question is there anything after we die?
Looks Like Quantic Dream is going to tackle that in Beyond Two Souls.
And the visuals for the game in particular Jodie Holmes is beyond this generation's standard....see what I did there...
The PS3 has definitely provided a more mature, and by that I mean intelligent library of titles recently than it's competition....Journey, Flower, Black Swan, Heavy Rain to name a few.

#8
OMG a new IP by Capcom....this is Madness!
No this is Neo Paris!
I like the environment and the premise behind the game, altering aspects of a persons memories to change the present. It feels a little similar to GitS and that is a good thing!

#9
I Finally got a chance to play the Sly Cooper games last year and they are just really fun games and Sly Cooper is yet another fantastic character in Sony's many franchises like Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet, Solid Snake, Kratos.
I would turn to Sly and the gang when ever i would have a bad run in SSFIVAE2012  on line just to calm my nerves and laugh a little.

#10
I enjoyed the first Lords of Shadow and anyone who saw the epilogue we knew this game was coming.
I wonder how the continuity will be rewritten in this installment, Will we see Trevor Belmont a younger Simon Belmont. How will Alucard fit in this new history?

#11
I'll let Krogenar tell us why Bioshock Infinite is on the 2013 wish list....
"I love the last two entries, but again, hoping they upgrade the gameplay in addition to the game environment. This version of the Bioshock franchise takes place in a flying city, which... is actually a huge departure from the previous two games, which took place in an underwater city. So... is Bioshock still Bioshock without the claustrophobia? We'll see!"

#12

Most super hero games suck, they're usually just a movie premiere tie in, but this game looks all types of fun and wrong at the same time!

#13
Crazy Isaac is back!
I loved the first Dead Space....fantastic addition to the survival horror franchise, aven't played the sequel yet so....I'll get around to part 3 eventually.

  1. #8 'Remember Me' looks interesting. Seems reminiscent of 'Dark City' to me, would give it a shot.

#13 'Dead Space 3' the original was great, it's a great concept (survival..horror..in..spaaaaace!!!) but they've got to expand the gameplay, and not just tag another digit on the end of the game title.

#12 A 'Deadpool' game? If the game doesn't upset a politician somewhere then it failed. That should be a fun title. I mean, if they can make a game about a naughty teddy bear that kills people, why not Deadpool? Wondering if it will be more comic as opposed to dark, or will it strike that perfect balance between them?

#11 'Bioshock Ultimate' I love the last two entries, but again, hoping they upgrade the gameplay in addition to the game environment. This version of the Bioshock franchise takes place in a flying city, which... is actually a huge departure from the previous two games, which took place in an underwater city. So... is Bioshock still Bioshock without the claustrophobia? We'll see!

#10 'Castlevania 2 Lords of Whatever' - I was playing my was through its predecessor, and it's fun, but ... it's Simon Belmont as Kratos. Sorry folks. Great graphics, gothic story, but nothing really revolutionary here.

#9 Sly Cooper - Never played one of these games, but it sounds like fun. Would try it and could hold onto it for my children's sake. Someday.

#7 Beyond Two Souls - Meh. What's it really about? Looks like a video game manga. Not sure I would enjoy a romantic video game.

#6 Tomb Raider - Everyone gets a makeover, eh? It looks like 'Far Cry' with bewbz. Maybe Lara Croft can rig up a makeshift brassiere? Or not, either way.

#5 ALIENS Colonial Marines - It's a bug hunt, man! We're doomed! DOOMED! Why don't you put HER in charge, huh? So all we had to do to drag you back to FPS games was toss in some xenomorphs? I'm still gonna frag you, either way, Will. Will the Aliens be a playable character in the multiplayer mode? LOL!

#4 Nino bleh blah something - Seriously? The sumi-e painting game seems cooler. I'll pass on this one. Bring on the xenomorphs.

#3 Grand Theft # - The only sandbox games I'll play are post-apocalyptic themed sandbox games. Survival games, etc. Which brings me to my next point.

#2 The Last of Us - This looks good. I may get this one after a few months and the price has dropped. I'm a sucker for these kinds of games. The only drawback is that this game seems to lack the sense of black comedy found in the Fallout games, so... maybe wait.

#1 Metal Gear Zero - I dunno. I was always, ALWAYS impressed by the gameplay in this franchise; the concept of sneaking, etc. But I'm going to probably pass on it just on account of price. I can wait a few months and get it for half price. The graphics look to be phenomenal, as always. But will the gameplay be stepped up a notch? Hard to tell.

Conclusion: Will, as always, you can pick them. I would suggest that a game developer somewhere take a few crappy games and mash them up for a great game. For example: Sly Cooper and Lara Croft fight Xenomorphs in the apocalyptic ruins of a futuristic Neo Paris... while sneaking around a lot. See, a blockbuster in the making, but no one listens to me at all.

  2. MGS: GZ: At this point it's no longer the graphics or game play that have the most impact on me wanting the game it's the games mythos and the sheer genius how Kojima San inter-weaves his story into world history.

The Last of Us just looks spectacular and so well produced it will never need a "movie version"....like I have always said, movies based on video games are pointless.

GTA:V After playing RDR and LA Noir I have a good feeling about this GTA.

Ni no Kuni is probably the best looking "traditional" RPG we'll see on the PS3...don't get me started on Squeenix and the whoring of FFXIII's Lightning!

Aliens Colonial Marines: YES!!! Aliens V Marines!!!! Sold right?

Dude you're so far off with Beyond Two Souls! Go play Heavy Rain and be impressed!

Tomb Raider is in my standby and see file, I definitely want to check it out, the environment looks incredible and I think this is Lara's answer to Nathan Drake...

Some times imitation is the best form of flattery, honestly you're giving up on a gem of a game, the voice acting alone is amazing, and not every game can be, or has to be revolutionary. This game may borrow heavily from GoW's gameplay style but that is it!

I have a feeling the Dead Pool game will offend many apologetically and we'll all love it for that.

If you're looking for simple fun DL the Sly Cooper collection from the PS Store, 3 games for $10. Great price for 3 very enjoyable games.

Remember me looks promising, I bet the #1 complaint about it will be it was too short....just a hunch.

All in all alot of good games this year for the PS3 and we will probably get the first news regarding to PS3's successor...might not be PS4 4=Shi=death.....O.o

Ok, so you're a fanboy. At least you're honest about it. It's okay -- I'm a Fallout fanboy.

"The Last of Us just looks spectacular and so well produced it will never need a "movie version"....like I have always said, movies based on video games are pointless."

If it keeps Mila Jovovoovovovich in bondage style getups, then movies based on video games are NOT pointless. How dare you?! (lol)

"GTA:V After playing RDR and LA Noir I have a good feeling about this GTA."

Never played LA Noir, but loved RDR. I still don't like the themes surrounding GTA games, so I would pass on them.

"Ni no Kuni is probably the best looking "traditional" RPG we'll see on the PS3...don't get me started on Squeenix and the whoring of FFXIII's Lightning!"

No idea what you mean about FFXIII Lightning. Sorry, did that get you started?

"Aliens Colonial Marines: YES!!! Aliens V Marines!!!! Sold right?"

Yeah, I'm sold. I'll get it. But if you don't get it or refuse to play multiplayer I will put you in cryo-freeze.

"Dude you're so far off with Beyond Two Souls! Go play Heavy Rain and be impressed!"

Yes, I had heard about 'Heavy Rain' being awesome. I guess I'm just into straight up battling games at the moment. So what is 'Beyond Two Souls' about? Title is not helping me at all -- sounds like 'Days of Our General Hospital' to me.

"Tomb Raider is in my standby and see file, I definitely want to check it out, the environment looks incredible and I think this is Lara's answer to Nathan Drake..."

      + 1 Krogenar.

See, told you was just Far Cry all over again. Which I NEVER PLAYED. I like exploratory games, however, so maybe this is a game I would try.

"I have a feeling the Dead Pool game will offend many apologetically and we'll all love it for that."

Deadpool is like the Howard Stern of comic heroes, so it's got to feature over-the-top violence (taking it to comedic levels) and black humor. We're talking infant-punting kind of humor here. If not a single bible-thumper gets heart palpitations then it wasn't true to Deadpool.

"Remember me looks promising, I bet the #1 complaint about it will be it was too short....just a hunch."

Well, after watching the trailer, it looks promising.

"All in all alot of good games this year for the PS3 and we will probably get the first news regarding to PS3's successor...might not be PS4 4=Shi=death.....O.o"

I'm really thinking of switching to PC gaming entirely at some point. I was able to convince myself to buy the PS3 on account of it being a BluRay player, but I don't even use a Blu-Ray player anymore -- having space-shifted most of my video collection already to my home server. So... I don't know if I would get a PS4.
